can he refuse? I know in court, you’re not allowed to refuse to testify (you can refuse to answer certain questions if you would incriminate yourself, but when they call you, you gotta go). … And in senate?

You are a moron, every citizen can invoke the 5th amendment. You do not have to testify
Trump never wants to go under oath, he always settles. Can’t settle an impeachment. Also, he was impeached while president and the republican senate refused to take it up. And now, I understand he thinks he is still the president, so therefore he’s still impeachable!
Trump took an oath at his inauguration & violated it countless times, so why would he tell the truth even if under oath?

He can’ t be forced to testify against himself. And anything he said, if it were true, would be against himself.
Going to be interesting, since Trump never hushed or stopped mugging for the cameras. His own accounts of many wrongs he committed were proudly recorded. Others can testify where he may not. His refusal won’t save him.

Actually Trump still hasn’t conceded. Every document and message out of the “Southern White House” refers to the 45th president and never the former president. It is possible Trump will refuse to let his lawyers argue that he is a former president. Reality has never been Donnie’s strong suit.
Elected officials should always be under oath whenever they are speaking publicly in that capacity.
Donnie would have lied in his first sentence.
They should find him guilty if he doesn’t want to answer questions. I can’t do that in court. The Loser is not special.
Maybe his lawyers are the ones preventing him for opening his mouth. He makes their job of defending him much tougher if he talks. 😛
