Those people are rooted in resource consumption many generations old. Their traditions are no where near as careful toward animal handling as western cultures.
By the same token, this is no reason to resort to calling this virus a “China” virus. When the Spanish flu worked it’s way as a killer in 1918, it was a comparatively benign thing to refer it to the “Spanish” flu, there was no stigma intended. The attitude of the current president to establish designation as the “China” virus is a blatant and veiled insult their culture which he regards as inferior. With the speed and intensity of modern communication, it is a propaganda tool that had no similarity in years past. This is an evolution of our political processes in a competitive world and has become another danger in the world community.

He wants the market and unemployment numbers to improve. he wants the economy back on track no matter who gets sick or dies. All so he can get reelected.
That rebirth is the rebirth of the economy. Trump doesn’t feel anything for anyone. He just wants the “numbers” to look good (you know…the same numbers when he didn’t want that ship to dock because it would make his numbers look bad…..forget the human lives involved). He sees the current measures to prevent the spread of the virus as hurting his campaign.

I’m not making this up. I saw the interview in full about Easter starting the lifting of restrictions. I saw his press conferences where he said he wants to go back to business as usual.

@Mario If you are asking me – I live in the USA. I am a research scientist. I am atheist, but hold Pope Francis in very high regard because he seems to practice what he preaches (no pun intended). I am a republican, but vote as an independent. Prior to Trump, I would vote for whomever I considered to be the best candidates. I do not hate America. I hate corruption and everyone who engages in it, regardless of who that person is. I do not like people who are willfully ignorant. I do not know everything and I like to learn other people’s opinions. Using your example of Trump, yes, he holds the position of president. He has done one or two positive things. But other than that/those, he is not a leader in any positive sense of the word and has already caused immense damage to the USA (financially, environmentally, morally, etc.). Having the USA rally around a president who has zero grasp on reality would not end well. Look at the video of Trump talking and look at the expression on the faces of the doctors standing next to him. Any additional examples are not necessary.
To ask you a question: Do you respect a person based on their actions or their title?
Hope won’t get the world through this crisis. Knowledge will. Ideally, countries will learn to work together during this situation so they will be better prepared for the next, which could be far worse.
