The House select committee investigating the January 6 attack on the Capitol issued a subpoena to the Secret Service over missing text messages. The Secret Service said it would respond to the subpoena "swiftly."

The Secret Service has expertise in recovering “deleted” data. I suspect they had to really make a special effort if the texts were made irretrievable.
