So far as of this writing in the US there are 24,148 confirmed cases and 285 deaths out of a population of 300 million.

@Chelle Yes we did. The experts back in January were saying this virus had the ability to become a pandemic if we didn’t stay on top of it. And Trump’s cutting of the CDC’s budget had seriously curtailed its ability to respond early.
His complete failure to deal with this outbreak has made it this bad.
@ChelleWhat exactly do you mean by when I first heard about? I can’t answer that question unless you’re more specific on what you mean by first? In China or the US? I don’t know about anyone else but what I saw happening in China looked very serious to me. By February 23 the city of Wuhan was locked down. At that point they had 495 confirmed cases but only two weeks earlier there were just 49 cases. Not a big deal if it was a known virus, but it wasn’t, it was new and there’s still a lot we don’t know. If it got out and spread to other countries it could quickly become a very serious problem, which of course it did. First the cruise ship, then Japan then S. Korea. Meanwhile, it spread like wildfire within China.
Hospital Administrators: we need ventilators, gloves, masks and other medical supplies.
