Is The New York Times' Success Bad For Journalism? | Morning Joe | MSNBC
I’d rather have …”yellow Journalism”…..than state run PROPAGANDA
@john emeigh – so you didn’t hear about pizza gate? Then what is your point about the boy with the maga hat? Go back to fox, they got the crap you want to believe.
john emeigh : There are many things that can interfere with a person with a high i.q. interpreting things correctly.
It’s not a guarantee that you are always going to be right.
The POTUS is a 73 year old with the emotional development of a 12 year old. Terrifying. And even more terrifying are the people that love this nonsense.
@ihave35cents your 35 cents aint worth 2 cents
That’s generous, he seems more like a 7 year old to me.
ANYONE BUT THE PUSSYGRABBER 😀
@Sibusiso Mngadi YOUR NAME EXPLAINS THE COLOR OF YOUR SKIN YOU SHAVED APE
@john emeigh No! I heard him say he would get away with it! Just like he got away with UKRAINE. How can I see him do anything he has money to burn, and income tax returns to hide!!!!
Biden will lose to Trump and Bloomberg is worse than Trump. There’s only one candidate left. Vote wisely.
@eric hoppe He hasn’t gotten away with it. Biden has been caught red-handed extorting Ukraine on Hunters’s behalf. That’s who you meant right? Trump is clean on Ukraine.
That success must certainly have trump’s blood pressure go through the roof – he used to call the NYT the “failing NYT”. Its probably true that his scandalous regime fueled the success of the NYT and other publications.
I subscribed to the NYT instead of the Wash Post because their digital deal was cheaper than the Post’s. That was the only reason.
You wasted your cash. Wall Street Journal is best.
In the face of a developing pandemic Trump’s gameplan, a-gain, is to issue a gag order, cover up, and speak ridiculous lies and minimizing the potential danger. What a surprise.
Bluevember is coming
Aye — looking forward to seeing the full development of the November vaccine, to take out the Virus-in-Chief and return the country to good health.
First thing tRump up did when he got in the White House was to sensor all of the government agencies concerning global warming… All government agencies had to take down anything on their websites concerning global warming…. REMEMBER?!
So Buzzfeed people are now running NYT.
NYT produced excellent journalism, was ahead of the pack in many, many news stories it has reported and worked hard for their deserved success. I never did hear a cogent explanation of how the NYT is bad for journalism. NYT did make some smart business moves and acquisitions that expanded its business model in an era of decline in print journalism. I can’t believe that opens the paper to criticism in an era of conglomeration far beyond anything NYT has done. Ben Smith should direct his criticism to Fox News, Daily Caller, Daily Wire, Newsmax, Breitbart, etc. that create a alternative reality.
Well Said!!!
I rather the truth from the media vs lies from the President
Exactly!
Absolutely!!
They might not continue looking for a reason to a conversation in public they might let you have it
The First Ammendment of the US Constitution… Isn’t negotiable! Brave journalists are American heroes! The First Ammendment of the US Constitution is under siege! By enemies foreign and domestic!

I freely exercise my vocal cords and typing skills daily. “Liberty will not long survive the total extinction of morals”. Sam Adams.
This is interesting insight. But I think he doesn’t take into account how The Times used to complement local newspapers. That was the case for almost half a century ago when I was editor-in-chief of my college daily at Western Michigan University. We didn’t just cover campus news, raning from anti-Vietnam acitivity to academic things which affected students. but we had a daily wire service (UPI), a wirephoto service (again, UPI). We tried to bring in world views for students who needed them because then, they could buy that extra cup of coffee or yogurt. So, we became the first college paper in Michigan to buy The New York Times service in 1972, a Presidential campaign year. Every issue of our paper carried columns by James Reston or Tom Wicker as well as features which would be of interest to students. We were the envy of journalists on our hometown paper, the Kalamazoo Gazette. However, other markets DID buy the Times service and, despite the digital ineternet age, dwindling circulations (and papers), they still carry The Times. It could be said it is an important source for those who don’t have a computer.
I recently asked the NYT to allow me to cancel my sub to wait for my monthly check. They very helpfully offered greatly improved terms. They didn’t have to. Also, The SF and Houston and Austin papers simply use wire stories and have canned all their local reporters/stringers.
WRONG! I just cancelled my NYT Crossword & Cooking digital! It’s their investigative journalism that’s amazing & Maggie Haberman & her staff & their credibility!
Why did NY Times discontinued retailing at Starbucks ??
Big company run well, makes great product, rises to the top, uses revenue to continue to make great product. What’s wrong with that?
Journalist: someone with no ideas but an ability to express them; a writer who’s skill is improved by a deadline — the more time he has the worse he writes.
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom – go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!”. Sam Adams
I love Morning Joe Program, 🙏💙💙💙💙💙
The New York Rimes and Washington Posr are real newspapers that do valuable investigative journalism that is important to any democracy especially under the tRumpian regime. The National Enquirer, Breitbart and Fox Entertainment Faux News are rag mags and garbage and have never won one Pulitzer Prize between them.
