@Byron Young Well, yeah. That’s the whole point. We didn’t buy any known working testkits and reagents, because the the Administration wanted American Pharma corporations to be making the tests, so they coud make big bank on the testing both domestically and internationally. They rolled out their first attempt at a US test they didn’t know whether would work properly yet, and tadaa – the reagents didn’t work.
Meanwhile – they had every mandate to waiver or shorten the approval proceures in a state of emergency, for those readily available and far more affordable tests and reagents – if they wanted to.
As usual, we’re in this mess now because of corporate political lobbying, greed, and a POTUS and Senate leadership who always put corporate interests before the wellbeing and safety of the US population. We had plenty of opportunity and push to get the tests that were made available, but as usual those efforts were aquashed to favor corporate greed at the direct expense of American lives.

Apparently T family were recently trying to buy a ‘german’ pharma that have a novel (pun intended) approach to fighting virus’. The company said ‘no’. I can only hope they said, ‘F**k no, you vampires’ (I can dream)
Germany invented the tests for the WHO. The tests work fine in the whole world. tRump wanted US pharmacy to make profit instead – and now they lost weeks of time to save the people.
Tests are commercially available. If the US like many other 3rd world countries can manufacture a test themselves, they can buy this stuff. Its not a problem.
US pharmaceutical companies have been ripping off the citizens by jacking up the prices for their mega profits through importing cheap raw ingredients from China and India. Then finish the products in US to disguise them as MADE IN USA. BS!!
And we are now learning that 86% of those infected do not know it.

That is exactly correct, and these people are walking among us unintentionally infecting everyone. Because of its health care system, America did not test enough people. They needed to have their expert doctors who understand virus science in charge from the beginning. Hopefully, they aren’t corrupt because they would have known how this would turn out, yet seemed to be unable to lead. The whole thing is just a tragedy. The US needed to follow South Korea’s example, but it couldn’t.
We finally see how smart and organized the supposed greatest country in the world is now. Don’t leave out genius trump.
Ohio is bypassing FDA beurucracy and are testing ppl. The States are stepping up where the federal government is failing.

Sadly I think you’re right the Republicans are going to find some way to blame the Democrats and Obama for the deaths that are certainly to occur later this year! I have an 84 year old mother with COPD and part of her right lung missing from surgery 2 years ago! She wore 25 years in the healthcare field and she is terrified of what happens if she becomes infected. And I have no way of testing myself to make certain I don’t bring a virus to her accidentally. So we’re observing very hard core protocols and I will not visit her again until I know where I stand in terms of my own health. I don’t believe I’ve been exposed I’ve been using gloves, face mask, sanitizers, other cleaners and being very careful not to touch my face. This is going to be a challenge of the first order, greater even than World War II!
The plan is to drown the virus in B$.
