    2. @Barrel O’ Monkeys Too busy golfing, praising himself, lying to the African people and spreading conspiracy theories. There fixed it for you!

    1. @Pete Lind The original goal was basically a retaliation against Al Qaeda for September 11. Al Qaeda’s operation around the world is now quite a lot weaker than before. But a new problem arose that Taliban can and does pose as much a threat to the US as other terrorist groups. But the US population never really got on to really identify this as a real problem because we just don’t see any real world threat against the US from them. So I can understand why we are weary of this war. No commander in chief has announced any new concrete goals, there does not seem to be any real threats, and it cost us money and lives. I’m not saying staying in Afghanistan is the right thing to do, but I do appreciate this Republican congressman’s analysis of the complexity of the problem.

    2. @Chih Chang I get where you are coming from, but at the moment democracy is being attacked in our very own country. I say we deal with that first before going and forcing our will on other countries.

    3. Maybe he owes friends at the Military Industrial Complex, and I was beginning to think he had a head on his shoulders, but I’ve been fooled before.

    4. He’s proposing that we leave basically a security force to back up the Afghan government and train them. It’s not like 2007 where we had troops patrolling every inch of Afghanistan. We are a supportive and counter terrorism force

  1. If the US cannot accomplish it’s mission in 20 years, another 20 years is not going to make a different..
And besides there are still thousands of NATO troops still there and 10,000 plus American ‘Contractors’ (mercenaries)
And its high time the Afghans step up and fight for themselves.

    1. The Afghans have been fighting for themselves for centuries. Why do you think nobody has been able to hold the country after many hundreds of years of invasions?

    2. It will make a difference by putting our tax dollars In the pockets of military contractors for another 20 years. You know the ones that donate massive amounts of money to that guy

  2. You know what’s incredibly dissapointing?? All the dead servicemen and women who died in the Middle East over the last 20 years… this has literally been a war without a clear objective or exit strategy. Let Afghanistan handle their own national security.. if the Afghan people want peace and liberty let them fight for it just as we have.

    2. @Nic ManUFan Why?! Who TF are YOU??? Its not your country! The bankers want to rob the resources, that’s why the US is there! Do you know why the US started the phony “civil war” in Syria?! Because they want to build a pipeline from Oman THROUGH SYRIA to Bulgaria!!! You know, the same leftist marxist that stopped the pipeline in the US!

    3. @Escaped Away
      What a brilliant, well-thought-out response.
You obviously strained yourself to the absolute limit of your intellectual capacity coming up with it.

    4. You’re wrong! There is a clear objective. Protect pipelines and seize other resources for multinational energy companies!

    1. USA need troops in Ukraine to defens of free world from russia
Putin mafia give money to Taliban for killing of US and UK troops

    2. @TacComControl it’s a alliance based question
Are we a nation that can be trusted or not by our allies

    3. @mpalfadel2008 Except that’s not even a valid question, considering that Afghanistan has been well prepared to handle things themselves for years. We have done NO good there in at least five to ten years, whatsoever. If anything, we have made the situation worse. We were never supposed to be there in the first place, and all we’ve told our allies is that we could at any time at the drop of a hat invade their country and steal their resources if we THINK there might be one fugitive in it. And even once we find that fugitive and kill them, we’ll still stick around.

    2. We’ve been training and advising for 20 years. Are we going to still be training these people until those we started training 20 years ago are ready for a nursing home?

  3. We’ve been there for 20 years with no end in sight. Maybe it’s time to let the locals work out their issues, even if that means creating a massive power vacuum.

    1. @PCgamer923 the USA and the world was unaware of oil deposits in the northern part of Afghanistan until 2010
We invaded in the fall/winter of 2001

    1. @geo-george2 ; Excellent, though I don’t think they will find Mr Biden quite as accommodating, he knows who they are, and has no need to play footies!

    1. @Bill Rodriguez; What are you dementedly ramble on about? How did you manage the vanity wall, there must be dozens of tunnels.

    1. @Doug Yates; I don’t think we really ever tried, what we did was always for our own interest, Always! That’s what was such a preposterous joke about the psychopathic fool’s ‘America First’ – when the hell haven’t we been, we just weren’t so boisterous about it all.

    2. @DJ DaveRave aka Dave Gordon Using American tax dollars to bribe a foreign council member to protect your son is un-American.

    3. @A W hahaha! That’s hilarious but the smiles are what confuses me because Trump did not look very happy during or after his presidency lol

    4. There’s a lot of politicians who are veterans and have kids in the military. I never understood this premise lol it’s wrong

    1. @Guy North if we didn’t go then isis would still be rampant. Our troops now after the fall of isis are not patrolling anymore they are a supportive role.

    2. @Bianca Culpo we left Iraq and had to go straight back and with a bigger force and with more casualties. Those who don’t learn from history are destined to repeat it.

  4. Find me one Military leader who doesn’t think that we can still “Win” the unwinnable if we’d only give them a “Little more time”.

    1. @Summit Trading; Oh, and you are an expert at war, please inform the rest of us how we managed both Hilter and Japan in 3 1/2 years, but twenty years later we have nothing to show for anything but plenty of needlessly dead youth and a bill for 4 – 5 trillion dollars.

    2. @Guy North fighting Japan and the nazis was simple compared to fighting an enemy that uses civilians as human shields. We win the war by helping their government.

  6. If they haven’t learned in 20 years how to protect themselves,I don’t think it’s ever gonna happen

  7. Operating from the position of fear is our doom. Operating from the position of Love is key in these confusing and fearful times.
