Personally I think ranked choice splits the vote too much in a general election, which is kind of how Brazil ended up with bolsonaro
Scarlett UwU I don’t think you have the right idea of ranked voting. What it does is tallies all the first votes and the bottom candidates are eliminated. Everyone who voted for them has their vote moved to the highest ranked person on their list that is not eliminated. This prevents “wasted votes” on lesser known candidates and this is absolutely a good thing for a democracy.

I saw highlights of Brazil’s election, the field just seemed crowded (granted as an outside observer) but with more people in the election I wonder how much voters can know all of them I guess ?
I agree that some sort of rank system would allow non 2 party candidates to run and have a chance of winning.
No one should represent your vote. No delegate, super-delegate, elector, coin toss, deck of cards, etc.

That does nothing if a person votes early, then regrets their vote, if they have new information or their candidate dropped out. It only gives their vote to their second choice candidate *at the time they voted* .
@Deborah Freedman If Michigan’s process is to address regrets as well as the drop out of candidates there is no reason an early ranked ballot cannot also be spoiled.
In my country the Philippines, no matter how many presidential candidates campaignin for their presidential aspirations everyone can vote for them through direct & popular votin

It is widely considered as the model to be most equitable and accurate short of using actual computer based algorithms which presents counting issues and trust issues. To act like the process has been completely fair is to deny reality. The mess that happened in Iowa actually happened. It wasn’t even fair in 2016, Donna Brazile said as much. It isn’t fair now.
A lot of things happened right before Super Tuesday. Polling stations were closed. Machines broke. Line ups were hours long. Independent voters and younger voters had their votes suppressed. The will of the people isn’t always expressed. And you’ll really see it when all the red states Biden won go for Trump in November.

I’m fully in support of our system here in Michigan seeing as how the Democrats running are down to two. Those who voted early, like me, can vote again and here’s how it’s done. If you already voted absentee you just go to the clerk and tell them you want to spoil the ballot you already sent in. You do no have to prove who you voted for as your ballot remains sealed until election day. When you go to spoil your vote the envelope already received is destroyed and you get a new one. The only proof required is your personal ID to match you with the ballot already received.

Actually they should just stop early primary voting. Would be easier and cheaper.
