African Americans have been treated badly in this country, but the good thing is they have their platforms and their voice. They have learned how to deal with this. I remember when Andrew Yang chose to forgive a racist comedian, one black TV anchor was asking him: why do you forgive him? If I were you, I will make him apologize and make sure this will never happen again.

I live in the Bay Area, too. Here it’s easy to forget that the vast majority of the country has no clue what it’s like to just be effing normal toward people of different ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientation, etc. etc. I have often thought that the best thing for America would be a high school exchange program inside the U.S., where kids would go spend a semester in a different part of the country and get exposed to other kinds of people. Imagine a kid from the Deep South spending a semester in Seattle, or a Minnesota kid spending a semester in Texas, etc. and vice versa. It would do a lot to foster unity and understanding in this country.
These people have to put others down in order to feel good about themselves. Tells you they’re hurting inside from insecurity.
