  1. “When I was a little girl, I was told at the beach if I dug a hole deep enough, we would reach China, so we’ve always felt a connection there,” Pelosi said.

    1. A multinational base on Taiwan manned by US, Australia, India, Polynesia, S Korea, and Japan would put a stop to it permanently.

  3. Taiwan government has gradually reduced its military service requirement from two years to four months since the 1990s.

    2. Well, I read a Taiwanese new another day about people still go to the beach and expect to see some fire work near where the drill was hold. People still go to the whale tour nearby, but didn’t see any missile flying around. Some people said you have better chance to see the whale instead.

    3. @Chih Chieh Chang People in Ukraine went out and about like normal just before Russia attacked and despite a warning from the US. People in Afghanistan that tried to flee the last minute hanging on to US planes were probably similar.

  4. Whoever is typing these headlines on the bottom screen needs to be fired, idk how many typos I’ve seen coming from CNN.

    1. @RaymondHng I always assumed “headlines” was in regards to news papers on the front page story with the large attention grabbing words, I may be wrong and always open for correction on my assumptions. Its certainly not my lane so I never knew what they were called. Always nice learning new stuff just for fun or curiosity even.

  5. The first time I heard Russian holding drill near Ukraine, Russian invaded soon after. May I ask everyone when is the first time you heard China was holding drill near Taiwan? The first time I heard was like 26 years ago.

    1. @IonKnowBro Yes it will determine the worlds politics for the foreseeable future, but China’s military is not the equal of the US at all. China has 2 oil powered carriers (with limited range) compared to 11 nuclear carriers for the US. China has about 40 j-20s The US has 186 F-22s (superior to the J-20) and about 450 F-35s (comparable to the J-20). I know that isn’t the whole story, but unless they go nuclear with ICBMs, they don’t have the capability to bring the war to the US. No bases near by, no fuel for their carriers. A war with China would take place near China where we have bases and our nuclear powered carriers can reach and stay. Most of the destruction would be on China’s coastline (and Japan and Korea) where most of their industry is. Even if the US military (and unfortunately our friends) takes a beating, most of China’s industry (and their economy) would be destroyed also. That is an expensive price to pay for a little island. If we don’t protect Taiwan now, the next time it will be worse.

Of course if China uses ICBMs (nukes), then All of China would be destroyed along with a good portion of the US. US anti-ballistic missiles are limited and only about 80% effective. But China’s anti-ballistic missile system is just being tested.

  6. Reporter Ripley repeatedly asks dumb and childlike questions…..interviewee dodges dumb questions, and pivots with an intelligent answer to a question Ripley should have asked instead.

    1. Whoever wilfully upset the geopolitical apple cart can only hope to pick up political apple bombs strewn all over the place as well as in the least expected of places…
Why b upsetting to others n creating chaos , anxiety all over just because one ‘ s own house is in a political shambles of one’s own doing …

  8. taiwan: we only know abt the visit last minute
also taiwan: light up giant letters on building saying welcome to taiwan
    lmao

  9. but the civil war in china never ended. that’s why “China” appears in the names of both two constitutions for both PRC and ROC. The mainland does not need to launch a war, but a military action to end the ongoing civil war.

    1. So you said the civil wars is still ongoing and there are two Chinese governments in the world, however, PRoC government forces every one obey one China policy. Looks like a inaccurate claim.

  10. When you are having big problems at home, you wag the tail of a dog and create a war to detract from issues in the streets.

  11. Chinese fighter jets light up beautifully on our systems so don’t worry, this war will last no more then two weeks. What we think China should do is not convert China into a rogue nation and just be part of the world community in a peaceful manner.

  12. “China is saying that Taiwan is part of China”????? Ironic talking point from the reporter since it’s the US govt that also says that.
