'I Didn't See A Way Back': Long-term Repubican Explains Why He Left The Party | Morning Joe | MSNBC

    1. Republicans took an obvious dive during Obama’s tenure..their behavior was on display for ALL to see…during trumps reign of terror, they became the enemy of the people!… they need to be wiped out…

    2. It seems much more like – they care more about the money they can scam from donations given to them, than the truth.
Given how much was donated to T***p for his “stop the steal” BS, it seems there are a lot of Americans willing to hand over their hard earned cash to any nut job who tells them what they want to hear

  1. Trump’s impeachment defense team is showing a clip reel where Democrats say “fight” a hundred times, and don’t realize they just proved that Trump is the problem, because Democrats can say “fight” without starting a mob riot, insurrection.

    1. @Theda Saffo Marciai isn’t connecting any dots because that requires logic. Marciai inhabits an anti-logical, fantasy universe.

    2. Their problem is they are trying to defend the indefensible. All they have is bs arguments. Makes them look like the fools they are.

    3. @Marciai Garcia I didn’t hear (D)s say that to a crowd they had invited, point to the building and send them there while also saying that they’d be going together.

  2. Simple solution is create a conservative moderate party because that’s what Republicans used to be a very long time ago a la Abraham Lincoln

    1. For all the “walk away” false stories BS that was being bombarded into the ether, over the four years of Trump’s presidency, by fake social media accounts of a non-existent desertion of Democrats from the Democratic Party, it appears once again that it was all just projection.

The desertion and walking away from the Republican Party is, on the contrary, VERY real, with real people not fake accounts with stock photos of imaginary people. It’s hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of every day real life people who were Republicans, and hundreds of high ranking people doing so very publicly.

Now a third party, center-right party, is actually in the works that will schism the Republican Party.

      Trump broke the Republican Party.

Republican Lindsay Graham, United States Senator from South Carolina:
“If we nominate Trump, we will get destroyed…….and we will deserve it.” May 4, 2016. https://mobile.twitter.com/lindseygrahamsc/status/727604522156228608?lang=en

    2. Karen is right. We Conservatives can’t vote for the Republican dictatorship, nor can we vote for the Socialist money wasters. We need a new Conservative party that is not trying to turn America into a One Party State.

    3. @Deborah Freedman You have the national registration numbers at your fingertips, right? Could you share them? Or else you wouldn’t have made the assertion because there is no reason to believe an assertion by anyone without proof. We call such assertions rumors, wishful thinking. As far as I have seen, something around 200,000 people out of 180,000,000 registered voters or more have changed their affiliation from one of the major parties to Independent in the last month. Not exactly overwhelming if that’s true. And no fair counting registrants from states in which you are not allowed to register by party as “unaffiliated”. The best we can say is that their affiliation is unknown. 2018 statistics, a great year for Dems except in the US Senate, showed 13 million more Dems (approximately 12% of the total) than Independents among those who had a choice of expressing an affiliation or none. Independents were slightly behind Republicans in registration, but very close.

    4. The Libertarian party. It started on the right, and they support a lot of liberal policies. The Trump dead-enders would evaporate.

  3. Conservatives who still care about democracy, truth, and science need to form their own party. There needs to be a new option for people who see themselves as conservatives, but aren’t down for the fascism and conspiracy theory culture. FYI, the Republican Party didn’t always exist and maybe it’s time for it to die, just like the Whig Party that came before it.

    1. @Michael Dodds I think that’s really cynical and clearly not the case. I believe if you gave people a real alternative to the Republican Party. That you might end up surprised.

  4. why do Republicans (and ex-ones) only talk about the deficit when the Democrats are in power? Never a word otherwise. Yes, we need to spend the money to save our economy and people.

    1. Exactly, BlackSwam! When did USA see a “fiscally responsible” Republican Federal Administration? Clinton had to clean after his Republican predecessor, same as Obama. If we are talking about fiscal responsibility, I would take Clinton’s Surplus and Obama’s Sustainable Recovery over any other moron Republican in the last 50-years. Give US a break! Not all USA Citizens are morons! Only 74-million Trump voters in 2020.

  5. The Republican Party is about to self-detonate.
Americans need to beware of flying shrapnel, napalm and a long nuclear winter.

    2. 2022 looks like it is going to be a disaster for the Republicans. 2024 has the potential to be extremely ugly with opposing groups of radical Republicans turning on each other

    3. @James Ricker If Mitch can’t get his team all on the page to convict Trump and leave him behind, they have no future. Voting to acquit Trump is going to be the end of them as a party. It may take a couple weeks, a couple months, maybe even a couple years, but mark my words, I said it here. It will happen without a Trump conviction.

  6. joe it must be nice to set and worry about the deficit when most people are worried about paying rent!! why are you not talking about the half billion dollars being spent on the capital with the national guard but you have no problem speaking out about money going to americans in need? i just don’t get it

  7. Joe you did not say anything about the budget when you were gaining money from your increased none taxation.

  8. Geez, Democrats are “Center-Right” by international standards. Republicans have slowly ratcheted policies that would bring despotism, and have in some ways succeeded.
American politicians need an international perspective to even reach the center. Discussing Socialism would help to strengthen our Democracy, but the corporate-fueled propaganda machines have rendered this taboo.

  9. republicanism eroded america, starting with an economic fraud, ‘trickle down economic evaporation. tricks, see result using it 5 yrs ago; sickeningly, idiots killed kansas.
REPUBLICANS BANKRUPTED KANSAS WITH TRICKLE DOWN FRAUD.

    1. @UCjf9LTo3D2jNuDUEW45cZRg they were never his party. Trump is a fascist. He would cull the Republicans as soon as he attained autocratic power. There would only be the most loyal remaining alive.

  10. Haass I changed affiliation when Oliver North lied to Congress about giving missiles to Iran as a bribe to let the American hostages go. Where were you?
