‘I Can’t Breathe’: George Floyd’s Death Reignites Questions About Racism And Police Power | MSNBC

Four Minneapolis police were fired after the death of a black man who an officer had pinned to the ground, his knee on the man’s neck, for about eight minutes. Before becoming unresponsive, the man, George Floyd, repeatedly said that he couldn’t breathe. Floyd’s death follows an all-too-familiar pattern of black people dying in interactions with police. ‘I Can’t Breathe’: George Floyd’s Death Reignites Questions About Racism And Police Power | MSNBC

  1. “Appeared to be suffering medical distress”…I wonder if this is somehow related to the murderous officer’s knee pressing on his neck until he stopped breathing.

    1. The officer was doing his job. If the man didn’t resist he wouldn’t have been in this situation. His own fault.

    2. WTHWasThat …”doing his job”? I don’t think that outright milder is in the officer’s job description.

    3. WTHWasThat That officer was UNNECESSARILY violent with him !! This needs to stop! He was resistant because that cop put his dang KNEE on his neck to cut his airway !!

    4. WTHWasThat really, the police officer resisted of 8 minutes. EIGHT MINUTES. It is also very perplexing how can the man DIE in custody.

    5. Imagine if he lived, what the pigs reason for detaining him was. “Sitting in a car without a mask.”

  2. Murder!! Charge them with 1st degree Murder. That other cop just standing there is just as guilty

    1. There were 2 other officers on the backside of the car too…holding the guy down, just couldn’t see them in the video. Someone from the other side of the street posted a pic of it…on FB.

  3. That mans body was lifeless when they put him on the stretcher. They didn’t even do CPR.

    1. What the F is going on, it was almost like an initiation murder into a cult or something. Seconds after going limp still being pinned by the neck then dragged roughly onto a strecther, no CPR, attempt to resuscitate, nothing

    2. @obi neux Not to mention they refused multiple requests by a firefighter to check his pulse…

    3. EXACTLY……NO.CPR.BECAUSE.HE.WAS.DEAD…..!!!!!..THEY.CHECKED.HIS.PULSE.HE.WAS.DEAD.THERE.FOR.GOOD…..PSYCHOPATIC.KILLER.POLICE.

    4. The EMT did check for pulse while the police was still on top of him, and the was no pulse that’s why the didn’t do cpr

  4. He never resisted any arrest, there’s footage of the store’s cctv showing him complying

    1. and as far as i know
resisting arrest nor attempted forgery is not a capital case
then again selling loose cigs is a misdemeanor

    2. i bet they consider the dude struggling to breathe and convulsing before dying from lack of air and blood circulation as ‘resisting arrest’ :/

  5. They killed him, there were recordings and video proofs, and now he’s gone, nothing will bring him back, may his soul rest in peace

  6. The Mayor is powerless. Citizens arrest for murder is needed now. Did the Mayor call for any arrests of the murderers? Mind games.

    1. Yeah now that they are no longer apart of the force, citizen’s arrest is definitely viable. When they were cops? That would’ve been a death sentence for anyone who tried. Law Enforcement is the biggest gang in the US

  7. Why must we wait weeks or months for charges to be filed when your average Joe who commits murder is charged immediately?

    1. Dude, this literally just happened. They were all fired and city prosecutors are already deliberating. You can’t really rush due process.

    1. Imagine understanding how the steps of “due process” work and realizing that getting fired is usually one of the first steps in seeking criminal charges in a high profile investigation that needs to be handled delicately because of the amount of media coverage it’s getting.

  8. Crying watching that video before, he’s crying for his mum for gods sake. That poor man deserved better than to have a knee planted in his neck, just sit him up he was already handcuffed.

  9. “Able to get him into handcuffs” yeah and then choked out for five minutes begging for this mum and his life and died on the ground restrained … disgusting and journalism like this, is part of the problem 🤮

  10. Why don’t we give “law enforcement” a taste of there own medicine, this poor man didn’t deserve that treatment

  11. the fact that the cops statement was so far from the truth is disgusting. “he was in medical distress” yeah cause you kneeled on his neck for 8 mins! where was that in the police report? thank god this was filmed or there would be no justice.

    1. The article here said 7 minutes. Fair enough you might have a point and it might seem trivial, but once one detail is blown out of proportion it all will be and that’s why it loses potency.

  12. He didn’t die at the hospital. He was already DEAD when they picked him up and put him on gurney

    1. Medical personnel at the scene and on route to the hospital by ambulance stated that they checked his pulse multiple times but to no avail sadly.

  13. Fired!?!? This is a no brainer.. These “officers” should be arrested asap. No justice, no peace!!
