How the UK vaccinated one of its most remote islands

The UK's vaccine rollout is reaching even the most isolated parts of the country. CNN boards a small plane bound for Fair Isle, off the coast of Scotland, along with Margaret Cooper, a nurse on a mission to vaccinate the entire island. CNN's Phil Black reports.

    1. Eduardo is right: Trump IS work. We work HARD to deal with his crimes and corruption and we must work HARD to smash his fascism.

    1. Exactly. Jesus Christ! English is my 4th language and I hate Grammar Nazis online. But this is CNN. Stop hiring Americans to do anything other than fetch Hot Starbucks.

    1. @Julian Lawrence-Ball But if it was warm and sunny they wouldn’t be indoors making the fabulous Fair Isle jerseys, would they? 🙂

    2. @Julian Lawrence-Ball It totally depends on how you define so-called good and bad weather. Don’t think everybody’s drooling for endless sunshine, sunburn and sweating. Allow people the option to prefer cold, foggy or windy weather. It’s their lives after all, not yours or mine.

    3. It is beautiful but I’m always a bit wary of islands where it’s too windy for trees to grow. Just seems wrong somehow.

    4. @Hilary Miseroy the islands used to be completely covered in trees but humans cut them down over the millenia, trees can and do grow there, but it is a very windy and wet environment most of the year.

    5. @Bob C Primus Funny you should say that because I have been reading about efforts to plant trees on some of the Scottish Islands. Maybe a dozen Norwegian pines in a group with that mesh fencing to protect from sheep.

  1. They need the sheep on the island to make the wonderful Fair Isle sweaters. Check them out. They are really lovely.

    1. Do you think it’ll be this deserted and tranquil once tourists are allowed to flock back?

  3. “If someone dies WITH covid-19, we are counting that.” -Direct quote from Dr. Birx at the Coronavirus Task Force press conference. You could literally make a stuffy nose the leading cause of death using this rule.

    1. My dads best mate died 5 months ago,he had covid, had been in intensive care and moved to his own room which is not a good sign..
But,he recovered enough to come out of hospital after 5 weeks, however the doctors told him covid had damaged his heart.
He died of a heart 1 week later. Anyone who thinks covid didn’t kill him…is utter utter moron.
