All I want from any kind Baptist is to act like the separation of church and state is real in our secular American Constitution. Not everyone is a Baptist so their doctrine does not need to be codified by legislation and court decisions. The same goes for the American Catholic Bishops wanting to block Biden from receiving communion. Also, it would be great if they would leave State School Boards alone.

Yeah, that’s what LA Archbishop Gomez and his conservative camp try to do.
But the thing is: They can only do that when President Biden is in their respective dioceses.
Because the President’s diocesan bishop is the Archbishop of Washington D.C., Cardinal Gregory.
And Cardinal Gregory already said that he won’t withhold communion from President Biden.
Also, seeing that canon 1398 only declares latent excommunication on those _actively participating_ in an abortion, but doesn’t say anything about legislators and politicians _allowing_ abortion to be decriminalized and allowed… Their case is on wobbly ground, at best!
And according to Canon Law, President Biden may appeal to the the Roman Rota against the decision of the Gomez Gang, by asserting that they infringed upon his rights as a Catholic Christian as inscribed in the Codex of Canon Law. And the Roman Rota would probably agree with the interpretation of canon 1398, that it only applies to those actively participating in an abortion as well as embryonic stem cell researchers.
american christians haven’t been “christian” for a very long time. they long since threw away the actual teachings of jesus in favor of the trappings of electoral power

God isn’t responsible for what you say, do or choose to believe. Organized religion is not about God. It’s about power and control. As for mega-churches, it’s ALL about money. Arguing about creation vs evolution is just the distraction Evangelicals love to use in lieu of accepting scientific facts and evidence. @egg sand, the Eastern Orthodox Church is officially the Eastern Catholic Church and was one Church with Rome until the split in the 11th century. Both the eastern and western churches started at the same time in the 1st century. An easterner who says the Catholic Church started in the 11th century is just as ignorant as the protestants who say the Catholic Church started in 325 or in the 6th century.🙄

My sister is an evangelical Christian. Thank goodness she’s not into Qanon but her pastor has her convinced she has the gift of speaking in tongues and healing. She has diabetes high blood pressure and chronic kidney stones I keep asking her why she can’t heal herself….it doesn’t change her belief that she has these abilities. People believe what they choose especially if that’s all they listen to.

The same person was having trouble in her marriage and this pastor was having trouble with his too
. And so they confide in each other. He told her God told him his pregnant wife isn’t strong enough to be his help mate. God told him this and then their church higher ups told him too. 🙄I don’t know how it’s progressed, since we aren’t really in touch any longer. It was a terrifying experience and this guy sounded like warning ⚠ flags and flashing signs of a predator.

From England: I have some of these absurd people in my family in England: pentecostal, evangelical, so-called christian fundamentalists. The beliefs they’ve adopted, I’m sorry to say, originated in the Benighted States of America in the thirties. Their minds are completely closed to any ideas other than their own and they clearly don’t understand their so-called holy book which, it might be remembered, was held upside down by tRumpstilkin, the 45th Amendment to sensible government when standing outside a church. I’m beginning to believe that God, sickened by recent events in that god-forsaken country really has forsaken it and that such a situation will prevail until our former colony comes to its senses, which seems to be a long time coming. God help America.
People have had their evangelical leaders spread false conspiracies to their followers who have been taught to believe and not question the words of these so called men of God.

“Religion”, born out of fear and ignorance in a time when humans couldn’t understand the mysteries of the heavens above them and the Earth below their feet. Used to indoctrinate the masses and control their inner thoughts and fears. Sounds like a cult doesn’t it ? No critical thinking, just accept what you’re told without any verification of whether what you hear is based on factual evidence. Fast forward to the 21st century where Science can answer so many questions that our predecessors would have never dared to consider, let alone believe. I’ll take Truth over fiction any day.

I use to be heavy into conspiracy theories. Trying to connect things….until I realized the information I was consuming was BULL. People have way to much time on they’re hands reading nonsense ” sources” they see online, and absorbing it as fact. People lost the true meaning of what ” FACTS” really are. Thats why we have fools supporting the ” stop the steal ” movement. And don’t get mes started on the fools, who say slavery didn’t exist in America.
I too was deep into conspiracy theories. It is a dangerous place to be.
