@trail mark The funny thing about life is, you do not get to know what is inside other people. You do not get to walk in their shoes. If you did, you would see that plenty of other people have had it as bad or much worse than you and survived. It is how we are programmed, in a manner of speaking. Alcohol and drugs, especially the kind pharmaceuticals treat people with, are what most often breaks people. I am happy you survived. Any decent person who saw me as a young child, would have intervened on my behalf, that never happened. I have had ptsd since I was a child. I had it when i joined the military at 17 years old and I had it as a city firefighter for over twenty years. I just don’t dwell on it. I stand up to every corrupt leader to this day. It is not you who is broken, it is this sick society that needs to be fixed.
I find it crazy how trained officers refused to engage with an assailant armed with an ar15 but so many expect teachers to do it.
It takes a good guy with a gun to end every one of these incidents, so how is more good guys with guns not helpful? Why should people not have the ability to defend themselves? Nobody is expecting anyone to do anything, but why should people be forced to get on the phone to call good guys with guns and hope they show up quickly and act?
I find it crazy all of your comments get hundreds of likes with no exception, across tens of mainstream media channels. How much does a bot farm cost to spam likes?.

@Bryan B not everyone wants to own a gun. I’ve read a lot of stories about people owning guns that ended up in their kids hands. Not to long ago a mother just handed her pistol to her very young child to hold. You can guess how that ended. I should not have to fear going out because I may be the next statistic.
As a 20 year army veteran, whom like many before and after me, gave an oath to protect and defend the defenseless, it’s hard to fathom the police officers refusal to go inside the school to save those innocent people…

If the reports of 19 officers inside the building refusing to engage the suspect are true, all of them need to be stripped of their badges, immediately.
This attack has signaled to all the psychopaths out there that the police can be cowards. If ever there were an attack that might spawn copycats… this is it. We’re only lucky that the school year has ended and it’s a long weekend, but there’s a risk now of further attacks because the nutjobs have been shown one entire department and responding agencies can be scared into inaction. I agree! BUT…so many of these families are choosing to do interviews!! Why?! If that were me, I’d be sobbing in my bed, unable to speak to anyone. I saw one family that had three kids with them in the interview, and a dad who did the media circuit, granting multiple interviews within a week. Strange times, indeed.

Parents may want to tell their story so this doesn’t happen again. So that America actually does something and for the country to not forget these families, this community and these people as a whole. If it were just reporters explaining what’s happening in the community without interviews then people will move on and forget. Tbh politicians should be hearing and seeing these people as they are to blame for not doing anything about the gun situation in America

i remember when kids used to be taught how to shoot guns in school, kids even used to take their own firearms to school for the class. weird how after that was removed we now have mass shootings

@J Bag Not very long ago, like sixty years ago, it was common for kids to bring pellet and hunting guns to school, as long as they left it in a safe place during school hours. It wasnt rare for all the teachers to be armed either.

Actually stare in to a person with a cell phone or a gun and actually make them make that decision to pull the trigger or not.
Offer actually “stress training”
If confronted with a active shooter situation.
People can say they would do .
The rub is no one actually knows.
So let’s start putting the public 12 And up in stress training offer it in local police department.
Show the people and answer there questions of well I would have done this or that.
