While conservatives work to ban critical race theory from schools, Howard University has just hired two award-winning journalists known for their writings about race and the impact of slavery on the country: Nikole Hannah-Jones and Ta-Nehisi Coates. MSNBC's Dr. Jason Johnson is joined by Howard University President Dr. Wayne Frederick to discuss the GOP's efforts to quash the honest teaching of U.S. history in schools and the recent high profile hires. HOW ABOUT HBCU’S FOSTER A WELL-ROUNDED and ACCURATE EDUCATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello…….HBCU are so busy begging for money because their alumni does not do s*** that their donors have been shaping their educational environment instead of the black intellect.
Do you have evidence to support this?
@Lorraine Tapper what a stupid question.
ASK ANYBODY IN THEIR 60’s, 70’s, 80’s THAT GRADUATED FROM ANY HBCU
OR ALL BLACK segregated SCHOOL SYSTEM FOR THAT MATTER, THEY TAUGHT THE WHOLE-CHILD.
while white schools did not mainly b/c they believed they their children were superior to black kids.
@Navy Flyer you are the perfect example of pure ignorance… clearly you have zero clue of what you write.
TRY DOING SOME REAL RESEARCH INSTEAD OF SPITTING OUT IGNORANCE.
or find a black person that went to an HBCU… that’s right… it means you’ll have to actually converse with a black person!!!
Hard to imagine the shame some of the people in North Carolina are feeling but I’m very happy that such gifted scholars have an academic home that will support them, not tear them down. Congratulations Howard!
gifted scholars??? They will be there to indoctrinate and not teach how to think. Crt is hate America.

Why is this story on MSNBC all the time? It’s like so not a story lol
msm pushing a narrative. repeat repeat repeat
Dr. Frederick, it is most pleasing to hear your insights on how Howard University is leading the way in acquiring some of the greatest minds this country has to offer. However, as the mother of a Junior in your Honors Program in the College of Arts and Sciences, I am disappointed in how we have been treated. Specifically, the living arrangements have been utterly awful her first year and now that she is returning to campus in August she has no idea if she will have proper housing. We live in Alabama and thus the need is not in question. Further, my daughter has been among the best students since she entered, and has maintained her GPA in high esteem. I inquired about honor dorms when we turned down Johns Hopkins and accepted your invitation in May of 2019 and I was assured my daughter would be placed in said honor living quarters upon her successful completion of her freshman year. WHILE the experience at Howard has been more than amazing to say the least, truthfulness from faculty and staff has not. Please remember Dr Frederick, if we are expecting our stars to turn a blind eye to predominantly white institutions then we must treat them well and never take them for granted.
My daughter entered Howard with acceptances from John Hopkins, Vasseur, and UAB to name a few. She had a 4.14 and a 33 on the infamous ACT. She also joined the student body speaking Chinese Mandarin fluently. Today she has a 3.7 majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry and Chinese. Dr. Frederick I implore you to rehabilitate the living quarters for all students but especially for those who have come to the Honors programs. I am one step away from transferring my daughter to JHop or UAB if this issue is not resolved in the immediate but extremely short future. I look forward to hearing from you and your staff.
