@Radio Queen Bee saying they “wanted to believe it” doesn’t actually weaken my point. I would argue it strengthens my point. How? Because the fact that they “wanted to believe it” is an indication of prior susceptibility, they already had a pre-existing predilection to being mentally and psychologically manipulated and abused, and that was taken advantage of by the abuser.
When Trump said he could shoot someone on Fifth Ave and not lose any supporters, Trump didn’t mean that they loved him, he meant that he knew they already had mental problems and he hit the jackpot.
Don’t forget, Trump tried three previous times to become a presidential contender with other parties, including the Democratic Party, but he failed each time because on average their voters are not susceptible to disinformation.
In the Republican base, however, I regrettably admit (as a conservative), Trump was like Goldilocks who found the perfect porridge, which was just right for his abuse. Trump is not a Republican, Trump is not a conservative, he never has been and never will be, but he “became” one as a means to an end because he identified in a large segment of conservative voters a psychological vulnerability he could exploit and worsen. And he did just that.
Trump was evil genius in the way he abuses his supporters, because it is his own supporters which are Trump’s target victims.
It’s an easy sell – the only thing TRUMPism does is validate the worst in rural white America that otherwise not be condoned. Naked, overt racism normally not tolerable but TRUMP made it acceptable. Why do you think they’re crying that “OMG none of the others understand US!!!”
