How climate change has become controversial with the Paris Agreement | Just the FAQs

The Paris climate agreement aims to combat global warming, but some politicians think it’s unfair to Americans. Here's why the U.S. has rejoined.

The United States is back in the Paris climate accord, just 107 days after it left.

While Friday's return is heavily symbolic, world leaders say they expect America to prove its seriousness after four years of being pretty much absent. They are especially anticipating an announcement from the U.S. in coming months on its goal for cutting emissions of heat-trapping gases by 2030.

The U.S. return to the Paris agreement became official Friday, almost a month after President Joe Biden told the United Nations that America wants back in. "A cry for survival comes from the planet itself," Biden said in his inaugural address. "A cry that can't be any more desperate or any more clear now."

Biden signed an executive order on his first day in office reversing the pullout ordered by his predecessor, President Donald Trump. The Trump administration had announced its withdrawal from the Paris accord in 2019 but it didn't become effective until Nov. 4, 2020, the day after the election, because of provisions in the agreement.

  1. The title of this video has nothing to do with its content. The video itself does not present climate change of the Paris Agreement as controversial.

  2. The clip at 1:10 is water coming out of a nuclear reactor (a very clean form of energy) this is misleading and clearly you guys didn’t do a lot of research.

  3. How did I get subscribed to this channel. Never heard about it before nor watched any of their videos. At least whats my search history shows.

    1. It happens to me as well. Sometimes I find new channels in my subscribtions of which I’m pretty sure I didn’t subscribe to myself.

  4. A very poor video. It explains nothing. It does not address any controversy. It contains misleading claims.

0:50 is that really what you meant? 1100AD is pre-industrial and was warmer than the period you started in.

1:12 you have a voice saying “carbon dioxide” but the finger in the video is actually pointing at H2O steam.

    1. Yes you are right. It starts with: “the earth gets hotter and hotter”. That’s already false since 2003 there was no warming at all. Then the next error: The net increase from 1850 to present was only 0.9 degrees C.

    2. The next lie is when it says: In the year 2030 the temperature will be already 1.5 degrees warmer than pre-industrial, which is wrong. In 2030 it will be at least 0.5 degrees cooler than today.
