Canadians are going to donate about $16 billion to charities this year. Charity Intelligence Canada has just come out with it's top 10 impact charities list as well as some advice to make sure your donation will make a difference.

I donated to the Diabetes Association at a funeral. For the next 3 years I received quarterly letters from them for more money.
Almost all the money I donated was blown on producing and mailing these letters. The I started getting large volumes of mail from other charities.
It’s a racket.
Give directly to the persons. Migrants know more about our charities than we do.
