The system failed when there was barely an Afghan government to start with. Their leaders fled as soon as Americans troops left and Taliban started marching in.

The Afghan army had little motivation or morale to fight after the US withdrawal. One US soldier wrote that an AA soldier quit one day and told him “you are here to fight for me.” 🤦🏻♀️

I feel sorry for all the people that served there and paid with their lives, not forgetting those maimed or injured as well. No point in training an army if they won’t fight. Their President fleeing and leaving the Afghan people to their fate about sums up the leadership that the US and its allies had to deal with. Afghanistan is an ancient country led by tribal leaders, it didnt matter when the US left the result would have been the same. The Afghan military relied on other countries to save their country from the Taliban,when they needed to fight for their own country.
