Trevor Reed, an American citizen and Marine veteran recently freed after two years in a Russian prison, speaks to CNN after Brittney Griner, two-time Olympic medalist and seven-time WNBA All-Star, was sentenced to 9 years of jail time with a fine of 1 million rubles (roughly 16,400 USD) by a Russian court. #CNN #News
No deal! She knows betters than to take drugs to another country.

1) Don’t go to Russia 2) If you do go, don’t break their laws.
Like you gonna know what theirs laws are it just a good idea to stay out of Russia thy are just not American friendly
Thanks for the infinite wisdom. I am so sure she has learned her lesson. How about it is time for her to come home. Period!
@John B.
They have sarma
To trade an arms dealer who is responsible for thousands of deaths is also a tragedy.
@phillip Rodriguez She’s one of the greatest female ballers alive.
@Antnie Rockwell you also have no idea what It’s like to be another race.
@HH 4Lyfe so u go to Russia in her place then🙄
@Gatti not all black ppl always see race as an issue, esp in this case
I can’t imagine the PTSD this man has now .
@Diet Pepsi cotton in cold weather? What do you have against boulder movers?
@Corry Burton You better be careful, “if you don’t know the difference between male and female, you just might get yourself in trouble, lol
@Jor Rba lmao
They can keep him
Is what I’m thinking
Honestly, if the government does anything for Brittney then we need to move for all the rest of the prisoners in the United States currently doing time for Cannabis.
🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯
There is also another American woman imprisoned there who was severely beaten by her Russian boyfriend…broken fingers, arm, black eyes, etc. He came after her again and she managed to try and stab him which resulted in a superficial cut. He called the Russian police, she was arrested and imprisoned. The American embassy didn’t even know she was there and her friends/family in America didn’t know where she was.
💯🤘
From everything this man said, I suggest not breaking the law if you go to Russia.
В России лучше всего отправляться в Санкт-Петербург, Сочи и в Москву в других городах с иностранцами будет трудно.)
@DIKTATOR SOVESTI Да, это так
Duuhhh Sherlock 🙄
@Евгений Евгеньевич ты как сюда попал браток?)
@Peter Psihogios People here gets sentenced to decades in jail for the same crime so think again.
Some advice.. Dont hang out/go to countries whos government is hostile to your own. Stop thinking that American citizenship gives you preferential treatment while in those countries. There is a huge difference between being welcomed, and tolerated.
@master paine She didn’t say she needs money. She simply has the opportunity to make good money, doing something she loves. You can go to McDonald’s and make money, but wouldn’t you prefer to own McDonald’s and make more.
She went there BEFORE the Ukraine war.
What about Marc Fogel???? He was sentenced to 14 years in prison after being convicted of possession of marijuana (with a medical prescription for it). Why isn’t he being included in this potential prisoner swap? Is it because a teacher is not as important as a sports figure? Include him in these swap discussions or is celebrity-justice the only justice that matters?
@Rick James rambling fool making no sense and not using punctuation.
@Rick James I don’t think she’s transgender I thinks she’s just gay.
I was on jury duty in Hawaii where someone bought a pack of cigarettes for some other guy and in the cigarette pack was drugs. The guy got 10 years. So, don’t get involved in drugs. Simple as that.
Did he know that the drugs where in the cigarette pack?
@F. W. He probably knew. Drugs are often dealt through hiding the drugs in cigarette packs or other consumer packages or containers. However, the big issue for me was that there was an intimidating bully in the homeless shelter that ordered him to buy the cigarette pack for him, and so the guy claims he bought it for the guy so he wouldn’t get beaten up.
In my mind, it was entirely possible he was afraid of the bully and he felt he had no other option than to do what the bully said or risk physical harm, since they both lived in the same homeless camp and couldn’t refuse or escape, but he got caught buying from an undercover cop. For that mistake, the guy got 10 years in prison. He was a young guy, maybe around 20 years old, and now he would go to jail for 10 years.
So, for Brittney Griner to get 9 years is not outrageous, especially when she knowingly and deceptively tried to smuggle drugs into Russia. In other countries like Iraq or Singapore or China, she probably would have gotten worse.
So are cigarettes drugs? Because it seems like someone was doing someone else a favor and it backfired. Unless of course they knew they were partaking in a drug deal.
I hope he’s recovered/recovering from his ordeal. Maybe he has some way to go.
Soul crushing
He been locked up in Russia so long he got that Russian face
Too funny!! 😂 and the accent 🫣
😂
Yes, he looks sullen, poor guy!

I don’t think US should trade Russia Griner for Bout. A lot of people have been killed because of Victor Bout. If he is freed no doubt, he will go back to doing what he did before. So, it amounts to Griner breaking their law being more important than many people being killed.
@Tawana Hawkins my thoughts exactly!! I never knew black privilege existed…clearly his sky ain’t the same color as ours!
@Everything Pc There’s no Black Privilege And You Know It , But I’m Pretty Sure You Know All To Well What white Privilege is. I’m I not right????
@studyhardplayhard Refusing to stand for the anthem does not mean you don’t like our country. You can love your country as a whole, and still admit there are injustices that take place in this country that you love. It’s the same with our children. We can dislike, and even hate, specific acts of misbehavior by our children, and yet we still love them.
Both of these prisoners that we are exchanging for the merchant of death and some political hitman are 2 people that that tried smuggling weed into a different country because they feel that it shouldn’t be illegal.. Are you serious about this,
Uh, not correct! Paul Whelan is currently serving 19 years for espionage. He is an ex-marine who was dishonorably discharged for bad conduct.
Is it me or does this poor guy seem out of it? He’s definitely been thru a lot. There’s no doubt his experience probably caused some mental trauma.
@AngelsFire A no.
Maines tend to be serious and not overly emotionally reactive. I’m sure his training as a Marine is what got him through this ordeal.
Marines are all about overcoming obstacles and that may come off as a flat affect. “Improvise, adapt and overcome “ is their motto.
@Marie Sprowl we will never know the hell he endured.
Appears to be quite medicated.
My father was sent to a forced labour camp when he was caught crossing from German to Russian occupied Poland. He spent 2 years there and saw many people die. My mother said that in the early years of their marriage he used to wake up screaming from nightmares about it.
😪 How horrible. I’m so sorry.
the only difference shes a drug offender, not POW
@MolotovMOLOTOV 🙄Only military personnel get POW status,
@quantum_entanglement Read his comment occupied Poland what year he is taking about?

I noticed that the prisoners who have actually returned through being swapped don’t make silly comparisons between who gets to come back and who doesn’t. They’re just happy when any American comes back home. And I’m willing to bet most of you didn’t even know about Marc Fogle until Brittney Griner was arrested and a swap was announced. So let’s hope that her arrest will lead to both of them being brought home. See how that works?
@Dr. Seuss no
Exactly
No he’s guilty if you can do the time don’t do the crime they wanna trade for a legitimately dangerous man for someone who’s privilege got them into trouble see you in 9 years comrade
My uncle was carrying half a pound of mota in Cloverdale Indiana and made 7.5 years for that. The government need to review all those cases here in USA first.
Trying to get the. , MORE. ACT passed . Senate is to look at it this month.
@Pulling The strings yeah. Russia started a whole asss war… not sure what’s ur point
Are you saying Britney is a political prisoner?
She broke international drugs laws like an idiot. She isn’t special.
@Austin she literally is, Austin. That’s a straight up fact
God Bless you Trevor. America’s favourite son right there : )
Have you watched Claire Danes movie: ‘Brokedown Palace’? Apparently Griner didn’t.
Shouldn’t countries search international travelers both arriving & departing?
I’m glad this gentleman made it out safe I’m sure he has seen things he doesn’t want to talk about.. welcome home sir
Thank you for being kind.
