Harry Truman And The Importance Of Bipartisanship | Morning Joe | MSNBC

    1. You don’t think that by labelling Republicans as racist, sexist homophobic nazi’s for the last 4 years could have something to do with it?

  1. Yeah we should totally be bipartisan with these people they claimed were helping Russia murder our troops breaking our elections destroying our constitution and ignoring the rule of law yeah we should definitely be bipartisan If you don’t understand this is a 1 party system and these tools Only work for big corporations

  2. Funny thing is I never see the Right reaching out to & working with the Left, so why is it the responsibility of the Left to reach out to the Right when they continually obstruct everything and push through Far Right court picks?

    1. @I’m kin Kuinafets They really started to change with Newt Gingrich sometime around the late 80’s, early 90’s, but yes things got way worse with the phony Tea party clown show.

    2. It’s just more laundering of the GOP and the Right’s reputations that Morning Joe and others in the media are paid to do. Tired of it.

    3. I guess the left just try to be the bigger person. Unfortunately the right will always go as low as possible. They have no scruples whatsoever.

    4. @aisey100 Yep, a few years ago I would have been all on board with pushing for bi-partisanship, but Republicans only use Dems good faith efforts to gain more power. The way they treated Obama who tried to reach out and then slamming through a far Right SC pick weeks before the election, is proof of that. They are bad faith actors.

    1. @3LD no….dead people voting is a newly revealed constituency of the dims…..this is 1 of many frauds and they got caught.

    2. @herbert fields Dear leader lost and the quicker you come to terms with that the faster you can begin healing. Why not do a little research on the allegations of fraud. I would suggest the article Leon Wolf wrote for “The Blaze” regarding the 234 affidavits as they basically dismissed the dead people voting thing & all the other kook conspiracy theories. I know, I know the Blaze is a secret Left wing, deep state publication. Anything for you to hold on to your delusional dream.

    3. @lbavfc123 Mitch tried and actually blocked a lot. Hence why Obama had to use Executive Orders.
One thing though Mitch did was block all federal judge appointments until a republican was in office. So basically, he packed the court without anyone realizing it. Minority rule, right? 🙄

  3. Done w the GOP. They arent capable of bipartisanship. Their corruption and selfishness is revealed. The GOP should be disbanded

    1. @Constituent A Well why was it that when Trump announced record levels of low unemployment for black people the Democrats didn’t clap yet when Trump mentioned about the highest amount of female representation in Government and even gave a distinct nod to the Democrats they all stood up and roared alongside the Republicans? It is because they only care about themselves. Like him or not there were achievements raised by the President which had helped raise people out of poverty and mentioning a good economy and your side just sat there in disgust at every word he said. Its pure narcissism. Democrats only care about their donors! Why else would companies like Facebook and Wall street mass donate to the Dems? I’m not trying to be mean when i say this but stop being fooled by them, they are all talk no action.

    2. @lbavfc123 Maybe you were asleep during the 8 years when Obama and Biden dug us out of the Bush recession. The issue at the SOTU was clear – the man did none of the heavy lifting but had the unmitigated gall to claim it as his own. Largest drop in black unemployment in history occurred during the Obama administration. Individual 1 inherited an exceptionally low unemployment rate.

    3. @lbavfc123 Trump got 12% of the black vote, Biden got the rest. So your premise is based on a logical fallacy. Mine, on the other hand, is based on fact. My statements stand.

    1. @Aaron Pachtman And in 2020, all the Dem House members who ran against M4A and GND lost their seats. It would appear that those who don’t know history are indeed doomed to repeat it ‪¯_(ツ)_/¯‬

    2. @Aaron Pachtman That is from the same speech.
I quoted from memory, apologies for inaccuracy. It’s worth looking up.

    3. @Andy Womack Also, in his diary he went on a rant about how Kennedy hosted a fundraiser for $1000 a plate.lol

  4. How can you work together with a Confederate Party that has people like Tom Cotton and others who believe, Robert E. Lee was a hero? The Republicans are still fighting the Civil War, feeling as if equality for all is their bases oppression. How do you meet that in the middle?

    1. Very good question, & one I’ve asked myself a few times. There are some things where there is no rational “halfway” to meet them at. There really isn’t!

    1. Republican mentality _birthed_ Donald Trump. Not the other way around.
He is simply the avatar of everything they believe, stuffed into a suit

  5. OMG. Here Joe’s goes again.

“but but, the Dem’s need to move to the right!” Because that has worked SO well for the GOP. The GOP is the party of racist’s, bigot’s, liars, hypocrites, and white supremacist’s.

“but but, the Dem’s need to work with the right!” WHY? The GOP has made it clear time and time again when they have the majority that they WILL NOT work with the Democrat’s. I’m old enough to remember when the GOP LITERALLY forced Dem’s into basement closets as “offices”. The GOP has time and time again lied, obstructed, and outright stolen TWO Supreme Court seats now.

But Joe just can’t get past being a republican now can he?

  6. “When given the choice between a Republican who calls themselves a Democrat and a genuine Republican voters will choose the genuine Republican.” -Harry Truman
“My polices are so mainstream that if this were the 1980’s I’d be considered a moderate Republican.” -Barack Obama
Any wonder that under the leadership of Barack Obama, the Dems have lost more elections than they’ve won, and have failed miserably in opposition to Republican policy?

  7. I was bored this weekend so watched some weekend fox news. Topics covered:
    1. George Clooney being a jerk for giving his friends $1 million each but also “forcing” them to pay taxes on it.
    2. Liberal tech workers using an app to translate what their cat’s meows mean and how cats hate them for it.
And no, I am not making this up.

  8. Joe Biden will have the next 4 years to be a uniter and be Trumanlike and lead with bipartisanship. Walk the talk time!

  9. All this talk about the Bonespur misses the point in my opinion. Trump is a symptom of the polarization of the usa that has been fertilized by Mitch McConnell. McConnell and his approach of opposing everything from the “other side” regardless of merit.

  10. The current resident of the White House does not have a 4 legged family member, this to us is a sign 🐕🐈🐾😔

  11. ” Bipartisanship ” : The Democrats wet dream of a Staussian corporatist pseudo-democracy. Fascism Lite as it were.

    1. And yet, when Joe served as a Republican in Congress, he saw that working across the aisle was not only necessary but also possible. The problem isn’t that it can’t be done, the problem is that Republican leadership doesn’t desire to do so because it doesn’t fit their agenda and then want to decry Democrats for the gridlock and being obstructionists. There are common values between the parties, commonality that means we can and should reach across the aisle for the American people from whom they derive their authority. Today’s GOP however is foisting minority rule on the majority. They have forgotten or choose to ignore that there is a separation of church and state, that laws based in religious views are unconstitutional since they are forcing individuals who don’t believe in that same religion to adhere to the tenants expressed in those laws. Mitch rules the Senate GOP with an iron fist and his lifelong political goal has always been to appoint as many conservative judges to the federal courts as possible, cementing the idea of minority rule and supposedly cementing conservative values in America and making fertile soil for further conservatism. Change the leadership, you change the policies and allow for open dialogue. Then perhaps we can finally legislate term limits for both chambers to allow fresh minds and ideas to enter into such dialogue and to better represent the diversity of the American people.
