This Black History Month, Into America presents “Harlem on My Mind,” a four-part series that follows the interconnected lives of four Black creators in and around the Harlem Renaissance. In Part 1, host Trymaine Lee explores the story of Jacob Lawrence, a Harlem Renaissance painter known for his depictions of the African-American experience. He talks to art historian Dr. Leslie King-Hammond and artist Barbara Earl Thomas, about Lawrence’s life, death and contributions to Black culture.
