Keep electing people like this. Just what we need for America. Glad I don’t live there with a jerk of a gov.
Actually, I wouldn’t want to live any place else.
Some ask: Why would the whole country need to know where he was? A better question is: Why wouldn’t the country be allowed to know where he was? Unless it is a state secret.
@marcelo brozovic don’t worey about my money. #2024
@marcelo brozovic send 10% to the Big Guy
Time for people living in south central Montana to move to where there is no climate change. They have no chance of survival under Gianforte, who pleaded for help to deal with the impacts of the climate crisis last year just days after leaving a coalition that seeks to combat it. I guess Trump’s endorsement for reelection is more important than helping his people. See the irony?
Southern central and eastern Montana has very harsh weather conditions, sweltering heat in the summer with damaging hail and subzero winter storms that can halt traffic and power to homes. I have a fireplace and the only months I don’t use it is July and August.
@J T I think the entire eastern side of Montana is turning into a desert in the summer and the artic circle in the winter. And they change overnight.
The wind is insane. Especially above Great Falls.
I live on the eastern central part.
Do not remember the last time I hunted in any significant snow.
Do not even remember the last time I have had to put chains on when hunting.
Starting to get harder remember Christmases with snow.
The growing seasons are getting later and later as well without fear of freezeout.
I mean even just optically if you’re on vacation and your state is facing an emergency like this, you end your vacation immediately and take the first flight back home. Even if you could manage everything from where you’re at, your presence is still needed as a leader of your state.
@Charles Rezac and left his dog!! What kind of monster leaves their dog alone in freezing conditions?!?
Exactly
@Aaab Aaab Yes but what’s you explanation for being a TROLL?
aahhh ted cruz returned upon being outed and “distributed food aid” in a nice neighborhood..
@Casey Moore well he hates reporters and physically attacked at least one camera damaged.
hoping your daughter enjoys her reporting career ..
I would say, he was already on a planned trip when the flood hit, he could have said where he was and come back earlier…ted cruz, on the other hand, left for cancun after they had de-iced the plane
Flooding and the heavy rains started causing damages to Montana days before he left… 🤷🏻♂️ I mean, is very obvious when the numbers are telling you record rainfall . He just didn’t care or paid attention to his job
@jlbueno0611 His kids encouraged him to go.
Cancruz came back (even though he only did so because he got caught). Ole Greg stayed awhile to see some sights.
@jlbueno0611 oh I didn’t know that. So this started before he left? That’s really irresponsible. I thought he was already on the vacation in Italy, in which case I’ll give him some slack. You can’t just grab a flight. Well actually you can but still.
Was it a planned vacation or did he pull a Cruz? If it was the former, then his office should had said so. Though he could had caught the next available flight out of Italy and be back in 48 hours. It took 4 days to get back. To the question why bother? Optics, people. He can do the job remotely, but the voters like to see the man they voted for in charge.

I say he followed in Cruz’s footsteps.
Sounds exactly like what happened here in Australia a few years back, when our Prime Minister holidayed with his family in Hawaii, while the East Coast of Australia burned in bushfires.
He’s no longer our Prime Minister, us Aussies didn’t forget this at election time.
His party is no longer in power.
We are sick of one rule applies to politicians while the rest of us suffer.
I can imagine the same will happen to your elected politician come time to vote.
Not a good look for any politician to leave their electorate when the public suffers with disasters.
My heart goes out to all those affected…💜🙏
@blacksmokematters He is supposed to CANCEL his planned vacation and do whatever he can to help his constituents. You know, the people who elected him to work for them (allowing him to have a “job” where he earns enough to travel to Italy — at such a time when his state is not undergoing a catastrophic EMERGENCY.
@Steve C. I agree with everything you said. Would just like to add that he’s still not as slimy as Cancun Cruz or Donald Drumpf throwing paper towels at people who had lost everything in a flood. All 3 do need to be shown the door at next election (along with many — make that most — of their fellow Repubs
Are these the same people that attack European lifestyles and the way they govern. But they sure don’t have a problem vacationing there
Absolutely.
I think it may be time to recall Montana Governor Greg Gianforte, immediately.
get busy then…
They just recalled him from Italy what more do you want?
As someone that lives in the area impacted by the flooding – nobody is blaming him. And why would we want to start a recall effort? Just a distraction from the real issue, which is rebuilding. dah
@Slats Grobneck Good boy. Defend the rich politician who doesn’t care about you and your family.
Well, I’m a Montanan and I’m not surprised, this is what we get when we vote for party and not for Montana. Republicans didn’t choose a Montanan for governor, just a rich person.
@Su Kn So you think Gianforte is better?
Last fight https://youtu.be/7Gf6-IgljyE
@Mister Sarajevo no, that’s the point, I really do not understand how either party chooses their candidate, I feel like they both are bought and paid for.
@Mister Sarajevo we like Tester.
@Su Kn You’re obviously a Bernout
Reminds me of the former Australian Prime Minister Morison who took a holiday in Hawaii while the country was on fire. And lied/hid where he was, and then said “I don’t hole a hose mate”…
@Cam F. He sounds like a real Richard Cranium. So glad he is the FORMER pm
The smart thing would have been to acknowledge and come home ASAP. Granted he has staff they can likely run things, and instant world wide communication is a thing, but it’s not a good look – as his refusal to say where he was makes clear.
Last fight https://youtu.be/7Gf6-IgljyE
@M what?
@tr98asu he could LEAD. That is his JOB.
@Video et Taceo what? Is there a problem?
Well, a guy’s entitled to a vacation. He didn’t know there was going to be a flood. But… part of the burden of being a Governor is that you might have to cut your vacation short if a disaster does happen. It goes with the territory.
In Montana, the state legislature meets every 2 years for 90 days. So during a four year term, the governor has 3 1/2 years where he can take a vacation. So it isn’t too much to ask for him to come back home during a state emergency.
We Montanans are resilient however our officials that we elect need to have their asses in our state when we’re in crisis. If you were on vacation before the crisis happened the second you knew it was happening you should’ve been here. You should’ve been down there with your constituents that elected you helping them when they were losing their town when they were losing their homes and you weren’t you were in the countryside in Italy with your family enjoying yourself that’s not what we elected you for well I’ll clear this up I didn’t like for you because I don’t trust you as far as I can throw you and I can’t pick you up and you just prove me right so I didn’t elect you however other people chose you and you let them down and I hope you never get reelected personally this was bad form all the way around
Last fight https://youtu.be/7Gf6-IgljyE
@drzero7 READ post from @Daniel North and you’ll see that it’s WAY, WAY worse than simply bad timing!
Gianforte is often secretive about where he is, even if he’s not out of the country. He was in our town, and his office wouldn’t verify it. I didn’t realize he said hed be back asap and took 5 days, though. He didn’t know we’d be flooding, but he should have come back sooner if his office said “asap.”
How often are there such events in a state? I don’t think it’s TOO often. Gianforte has a net worth of 135 million, he can afford to cancel a vacation and pay extra for a last-minute scheduled replacement vacation.
Ron DeSantis does the same thing here in Florida. He lets media outlets that are friendly to him know where he’s going to be in advance so he can get positive press coverage.
But due to our “sunshine” laws, his office has to release his daily schedule before the close of business each day.
This way he can’t be “smeared” or “hounded” by the so called “liberal media” at his press events.
Yep gives new meaning to A sap, doesn’t it
He couldn’t be bothered to cancel his vacation? His Voters deserve who they vote for. The others I can’t imagine the frustration
@ELX PUMP This isn’t about what he physically could or couldn’t do, it’s about his character. His character determines how he reacts to a situation. When he knew a literal (natural) disaster was headed towards his state, the state he asked to be placed in charge of their well-being, his inclination was to go out to have a good time. To contrast this, when Texas was hit with an ice storm that crippled parts of the country and caused deaths, one of their Senators, Ted Cruz, went on vacation to escape the weather. The man who had previously campaigned against him and lost, Beto O’Roark, immediately went into action procuring water to distribute to those without it. A Representative from New York, AOC, raised millions of dollars to provide aid for the Texas citizens. Their _character_ drove them to help, not flee.
To those of you defending the Governor, I want to know what you believe a Governor’s job is; what are their responsibilities? How should they respond to emergencies? Do you truly think so little of yourselves that you don’t believe you deserve to have political leaders who care about your wellbeing? Don’t you realize that is supposed to be the core requirement for being a political leader? Or do you believe you deserve politicians who will exploit you and their positions for their own financial and social gain?
@ELX PUMP hahaha 😅😁😁 that excuse is getting old for republicans
If he was on vacation, by definition, he was out having a good time. Neither his mind nor his heart were with his constituents when they needed him most. He had to know the potential devastation his state faced *before* he went on vacation… but he went anyway. He doesn’t care about them; not enough to be in charge of their welfare. This is what his constituents need to remember in his next election.

He could’ve avoided all this if he a least was transparent and made his whereabouts known via a Zoom call distributed to the press saying he’s on his way home immediately. I will never understand how politicians always think that it’s wise to try to cover things up when they know the truth will be reveled anyway.

Sick and tired of these kinds of unqualified, incompetent and self affected public servants
He took a page from Ted Cruz’s playbook like when he took off for Mexico during the Texas freeze where we were left in the cold and dark with no power during an epic winter storm.
As tough as it is, when stuff like this happens, people want their elected leaders to show up, and at least act like they care. Perception is everything. Us Aussies felt like this when east coast was on fire and Prime Minister was on family holiday and saying his deputy could handle it. Not the point!! A lot of Aussies and volunteers refused to shake his hand when he eventually showed his face. He’s voted out now. 🇦🇺
Sorry this has happened to you Montana, wishing you good luck on your path to recovery. 🙏🤞✌️😘
