This company should pay a big find, but the Jamaican government is so weak when it comes to foreign companies.
Lack of knowledge my people perish . They would have gotten more if they had come together and sue the company and the government.
Why couldn’t a lawyer represent them outta the goodness of their heart…?

The government is a sell out .the compensation that those people deserve they did not get it.the company should have employed them and hip them a monthly salary until the fish return .and the government should think of ways to repopulate the water with fish
I feel for the people:that they have to go through what they’ve been going through:and to add insult to injury they were made to sign away their rights. because any thing is better than nothing.
But they must remember that they have to stand for something or else they will fall for anything.

That’s always the lot of the poor people. To ask them sign documents to not sue the government is tantamount to the government being responsible for perpetuating crime against it own people.

They should have bond together and brought a Class Action Lawsuit against the Jamaican Government. Some of these people are too damn foolish. They deserve way more money than that. This is so sad the people should have ben better compensated. However if they had tried to sue it would have been dragged out in court and only the lawyers would have benefited while the people suffer more and get pennies on the dollar.

Because of poverty these people grabbed at the first offer. They can’t afford lawyers who are not in the government pocket, to sue the company that has polluted the river. The poor always suffer the most in every way and every time.

I watched and filled with so many emotions raging from sadness to anger. What has the govt done to ensure this doesn’t happen again. We cannot continue to prostitute over beloved country at the expense of its citizens.
