Fmr. Google Ethicist: 'Social Media Has Destroyed Our Common Ground' | The Last Word | MSNBC
Exactly my thoughts just did not find the words
I came to criticize, but guest Tristan Harris was balanced and spot-on (other than his adverts for ‘The Social Dilemma’)
He’s the same on the Social Dilemma. I’ve watched it. Have you?
It’s a garbage film. It’s propagandic.
@Leeanne Dowdell I have not. But I did appreciate his insight and lack of “one-sidedness.”
Finally someone admits there is a problem. The solution is to bring all lies into the light and prove they don’t hold up.
we used to have this thing called THE FAIRNESS DOCTRINE until st ronnie did away with it! it needs too be brought back!!
This is why CNN and MSNBC are always being sued for their lies.
Bring back the TRANSPARENCY.
The Social Dilemma on Netflix is mind blowing. If you haven’t seen it, you should know how we are all being manipulated and fed targeted micro realities.
Hmmm..But I don’t need to spend more money on an obvious problem like Social Media Threat. The thing is, Right now…the world that covered by internet is completely being wrecked.
@Wikan Saktianto: It should be obvious by now that you can’t build a healthy society
using American spy technology. Oh! Lunch time. Time to log out.
Thank you. I will look at that.
“Let’s all admit we’ve been driven crazy by social media.” And they wonder why people drink.
Excellent statement exclamation 20/20 has been extremely interesting.
They censor people who are believed to be conspiracists. No wonder the conspiracists believe they’re right. Because when you CENSOR. YOU CAN’T CHALLENGE IDEAS. THAT CREATES STAGNATION and RADICALIZATION.
Social media has really brought out the Karens and Darrens with the disinformation, lies and conspiracy theories!🤔
And fake news like CNN and MSNBC
@Phil Campbell. Sadly…that is why Television and Radio Broadcast have their redaction team..once upon a time. Now, since Internet is actually become our lifesupport…no one can redacted airflow.
So why censor them? WHY VALIDATE IT?! Instead of allowing the power of free speech to Challenge those ideas?! That’s not how you build progress?! That’s you radicalize!
“The Social Dilemma” excellent movie, it’s on Netflix
Exactly ! just watched it a month ago. Superb, everyone needs to check this show out.
@Mark S Yeap, that’s why I also watch Fox News and right wing media. I want to watch both sides and I make up my own decision. I still don’t like Trumps cronies and supporters
Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth.
satyrme: “Consider the lily of the valley. It neither reaps nor does it sow, and yet Solomon,
in all his glory, is not arrayed such as one of these”. Author beloved for all eternity.
Yes, but what is truth? Socrates reminds us it’s not so simple.
@Robert Poen And he is dead. We are not.
Google has no ethics, that’s why this guy is “former”
Google “ethicist”? 🤔
Stop it! 😂🤣
Being fed affirmation rather than information. That’s a beautiful encapsulation of the problem,
This is why I got off of Facebook, IG and Twitter.
I never ever ever been on any of them.
Tristan is one of my young heroes. But I despair that this battle is hopeless.
The term “Google ethicist” is the textbook example of an oxymoron.
El loco: Being an insider is the best way to learn. Viva Zapata!
No social media exposed the lie of our unity.
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 the only people who have comon ground is the media elites the wealthy and politicians. The rest of us are just trying tok survive.
“There’s no simple way for tech companies to fix the problem.”
Yes there is. Shut down public comment sections.
I’ll add: delete all accounts. No algorythms, no recommendations, no search history.
Everyone surronds themselves with “yes men”, so never grow intelectually. Learning is only done by exposing yourself to different ideas.
I miss the days of nonsocial media apps.
The problem starts with the misleading label of “social media” on communication tools that are deeply anti-social.
