When given the choice of either adopting policies that voters would support to win elections or preventing people from voting against their unpopular policies, republicans chose the latter.

They should at least require someone to have a photo ID

Photo ID is voter suppression because they require a certified birth certificate to get it. Many people were born without a birth certificate, and to get one now may require a lawyer and several hundred dollars.
@Dennis Harrell dude, everyone has a birth certificate who is a US citizen. If not they have other things they can use. You have to have a photo ID to open a bank account, why can’t it be required to vote?
I’ve been saying this for over a decade. Voter repression has become extremely bad, and the GOP does not try to hide what they are doing, We need to save our democracy, Voting is our one right everyone should stand up for. As Americans this should be a priority!!!!
It’s been worse, got better for a bit, then SCOTUS gave permission to make it bad again. Why do you think Trump hates mail-in voting? It’s hard to suppress the vote when every citizen can vote by mail.
I’ve been saying it since the 90’s, when I was a teen. I can’t believe its taken this long for others to wake up: the GOP has been a minority party for decades, and the only way they have gained and maintained majority power on a national level is via mass voter suppression and anti-democracy tactics (obstructionism, changing the rules, etc).
It turns out that the GOP does have a vision and a platform, and it’s called voter suppression.

Been that way for 30+ years. The last legitimate GOP potus was Bush Sr. ffs. The GOP, now GQP, has long been a minority party (even most conservatives don’t agree with many of its main policies) that has gained and maintained majority power by mass voter suppression and anti-democratic tactics (obstructionism, changing the rules, etc). And finally most people have become aware of this, possibly too late for US democracy as the US descends into a full far-right fascist controlled illiberal authoritarian state (sooo glad I left the failed US!).
national and local news channel are propaganda machines and lying through their teeth. They all have blood on their hands for promoting the covid lies and now for telling us the bio weapon vaccine should be taken! 1/3 of our military already refused it.. they Know what it is!
