Yes it’s actually that easy to know how a disease spreads. What’s hard is stopping it which is why we have the CDC.
The CDC is there to stop the spread of infectous diseases which is why it’s so bad that the Trump Administration went against CDC guidelines in evacuating infected Americans to the US and then weren’t consulted when Sec Azar sent HHS personnel to greet infected Americans at Travis Airforce Base without protection and then seeded the US with the infection by sending those Federal employees back to their home areas.

By the way, you measure the Death Rate by how many people have recovered to how many people have died.
36,436 have recovered and 2,858 have died. That’s almost a 8% mortality rate which has held steady for the past week.

@Ralph Boyd yes. I read the WHO website and the Canadian news. We have 20 cases, no deaths yet I think. I am still planning to fly to Toronto March break. They are cleaning the planes so they say, am wearing a mask bringing my own food and bringing lots of alcohol based sanitizer wipes. There is no sense of panic here yet, not like the States.
You really need a federal /state universal medicare program and efficient CDC organization. You know the morbidity rate for many’s diseases is higher in the US than in countries with medicare programs and higher than in countries with a smaller gap between the very rich and very poor. The States has a steep gradient from poor to rich and that gradient is associated with higher morbidity and mortality rates for illnesses like coronovirus. Not to mention the recent cuts by Trump administration.
The death rate in China is declining I thought their response was pretty fast once they realized . The Chinese population density , global mobility and lack of awareness accounts for the initial fast spread of it. I hope precautions will limit the impact because it is a serious illness with no known treatment or innoculation. It is in the SARS family I read.
