First-Time A Woman Has Been Crowned

She can be considered a rising star on the island of Dominica and is a frontline singer with the veteran musical band the Swinging Stars; Tasha P by calypso name is the first female to capture the Dominica Calypso Association monarch crown on that beautiful Caribbean island in early morning of Sunday March 5th, 2011.

Tasha P made history as the first female ever calypsoian to win the coveted title in 54 years of the show help every year to bring down the curtains on the Carnival shows. Her performances of “Let Children Be Children” and “It’s Woman Time” had the thousands of calypso fans rocking at Festival City at the Pottersville Savannah just outside of the capital city of Roseau.

She is also the first calypso artiste to win three titles in one season capturing the Calypso Queen and Stardom Monarch of the Tent titles for the 2011 carnival season.

In second place was 4-time Calypso King, Dice, third place was the back-to-back defending King Karessah and third placed the veteran Checker.
