    4. Duncan McMillan well actually this started from wild animals not pets like cats and dogs etc, please do your research first. It starts with live animals being exposed to dead animals meaning a chicken can be alive right next to chicken breast meat and that’s how people can catch it

    4. I’m a healthcare analyst and spoke with infectious disease doctors and former FDA officials. This is what I gathered.

      – fatality rate is likely way lower than 2%, maybe not much worse than flu. A lot of asymptomatics or mild illnesses are unreported
      – the transmission rate (R-not) is the rate of which how many does one infected persons infect? This has r-not if around 4, which is slightly worse than flu (~3) and less than colds (10-15).
      – smokers and elderly will be most vulnerable . Chinese males have 50% smoking rate. 1/3 of all the worlds smokers live in China
      – the infection numbers you see in the news aren’t the real rates, they just represent the ability for countries to test and report. Africa has not sealed off the virus they just can’t test
      – testing ability of the US right now is terrible. But in 1 week we will be able to test 1000/day, in 2 weeks 2000/day. In a couple weeks the infection count in the US will spike. Korea has been testing 10,000 a day which is why they have cases spike
      – it is good and bad we haven’t seen any hospitals overrun with pneumonia cases (ie suspected Coronavirus) because it means it has spread to people and they are just mild cases, but it also means some people are infected and are out and about spreading it
      – this is how Italy found out their outbreak, a health center was overrun with pneumonia cases
      – it is definitely spreading in the US given the community infections we have seen
      – a vaccine is not close, a year or two at best. Testing is needed to make sure it is safe for general public
      – a drug like tamiflu to deal with an infection is very possible by fall
      – when spring and summer come the infections will go lower but may come back in fall/winter
      – children under 10 have little to no symptoms but definitely can infect others
      – the virus can live on a hard surface for a few hours, not days. Packages from China should be OK
      – US will have the ability to contain this but not get rid of it forever
      – it is an RNA based virus meaning it can mutate ever so slightly and you can get it multiple times.
      – viruses tend to get less virulent and lethal as populations build immunities, etc.
      – if you live in a city or close to one be prepared to work from home or have schools closed, meaning stock up on food and supplies. A couple dozen cases in NYC likely means it is spreading so closures, work from home mandates will happen
      – at the end of the day, it seems likely we will all eventually get this virus, but we just may not know it until we are tested. A few years from now you may go in for a regular blood test check up, and you will find out your blood has Coronavirus antibodies.
      – healthcare response is driven mostly at local level, ie states and cities. Federal authorities can support and guide but shutdowns, states of emergency are state local level

  18. The government must take every possible measure in order to minimize the number of victims.
    The death toll is increasing in Japan, too.
    If the Tokyo Olympics are forced, infections would increase even more around the world.
    There will be many dead in the US.
    So the government should advise IOC to change the venue or cancel games.
    IOC and the Japanese government should make human life the highest priority.

    The situation is so serious that it’s not possible to hold the Olympics.
