Why, what a waste. Should develop and build the YF-23 in house. As Japan is doing. And much cheaper too.

Grippen is the better airframe for Canada. Multi engine is a better choice in a country as vast as Canada

@Lone Wanderer honestly back then we had no use for the jets or any new equipment. Now however the situation has changed and so has the response of the federal government when it comes to purchasing the F-35s. Be glad that the government can adapt to changing situations rather than cling on to campaign promises made over 5 years ago
Makes me wonder what kind of country would we be today if we had continued the Avro Arrow program, and gone into full production.
I think we would have what we really need right now. I know the North is a lot smaller then it looks on a map, but its still pretty big.

We should get the new F15 Eagle twin engine fighter. F35 can reach only Mach 1.6 and the F15 Eagle can reach Mach 2.5 and they have lager combat range and they are cheaper than the F35 go with the Eagle you will have a winner there in The F15
Bud the F35 can detect its competition at twice the range, they intend to have a drone fleet by 2030.
