Fatalities reported after Amtrak train derailment in Missouri | USA TODAY

Several cars of Amtrak’s Southwest Chief train came off the tracks after colliding with a dump truck in Mendon, Missouri.

There were "early reports of injuries" among passengers, Amtrak said, but the extent of the injuries wasn't immediately known.

At least three of the injured passengers were taken to University of Missouri Health Care in Columbia, Missouri.

  3. I’ll bet money the dump truck driver didn’t stop to check for the train before crossing or he tried to beat the train. I’ve seen this story before. All it takes is 15 seconds to save your life, the lives of others and your property.

  5. Shame on the train system. Only one train in US and had a accident. How India handle hundereds of train everyday.
