I really don’t get all of the people that complain about the precautions we have to take like mask wearing and social distancing. Sure, I will be very happy when we no longer have to do these things but I don’t feel that I am sacrificing much. Probably the biggest sacrifice for me is I avoid a lot of close contact with my grand children that are at my house a couple of days a week because my son lives with me. Since they are attending school and can possible spread the disease, I try to stay in my room when they are here and I have short conversations with them making sure that there is some distance between them and me. There is even a silver lining to this whole mess. I had an electric bike that I bought over 2 years ago and it just sat in the garage. But now I put a few hundred miles on it in just the last couple of months because it something I can do by myself or with a few friends to get out and have fun. So many people before us have given so much to make this world and country a better place. If wearing masks and social distancing is the sacrifice that I have to bear, then I have to admit that I am getting off pretty easy compared to what others had to endure.
@Dustin Minor I still see grandchildren a couple days a week. They spend the night. We sometimes all go for a walk together. What I don’t do is sit down and play with them or talk to them up close. I also don’t linger around them for any period of time indoors. When I was a child, I only saw my grandparents one week a year, every other year since they lived 1000 miles away. So, I actually am around them quite a bit in comparison. I also didn’t mention that I got influenza-A back in January and almost died. I was on ventilator for 20 days and took about 5 months before I got back to normal so I am a little paranoid to get Covid.

Seven aides reported a potential violation of law by Paxton in his official capacity, to “an appropriate law enforcement authority,” according to an Oct. 1 letter to the Office of Attorney General’s director of human resources. The seven signatories of the letter, which doesn’t outline the offenses, said they had knowledge of facts relevant to the offenses and provided statements to law enforcement.
In a statement provided to the Austin paper, Paxton’s office said the complaint was filed “to impede an ongoing investigation into criminal wrongdoing by public officials including employees of this office. Making false claims is a very serious matter and we plan to investigate this to the fullest extent of the law.”
The Attorney General’s office didn’t respond to requests for comment by Bloomberg News outside normal business hours.
The letter accusing Paxton of wrongdoing was signed by Jeffrey Mateer, a First Assistant Attorney General, who resigned to rejoin a Dallas-area conservative non-profit dedicated to defending religious liberty, according to the Dallas Morning News. Mateer was nominated for a judgeship in the Eastern District of Texas by President Trump, but the confirmation process was halted after it was reported Mateer called transgender children “Satan’s spawn” and made other homophobic comments, the Dallas Morning News said.
