Well let’s look at the bright side. Trump has effectively been “draining the swamp” by plucking these whackos out of the House and Senate to put in his administration – they don’t last long so by 2020 there will be fewer whackos in congress.

Bear also in mind the economy would not be what it is now if the Obama administration had not pulled the country out of the abyss.
@Joe I’m speaking of the actual recession. Bush didn’t do great job imho. War on oil was ridiculous but Obama financial policies were horrible as well (ie bailing out the banks).
People always want to give attribution to some party either through indicators or lag indicators but we forget laws have been in placed for centuries. We could say Nixon created the recession or the growth from removing us from the gold standard.
But all I know is when Bush and Obama were president, it was hard times. People losing their homes, big banks belying up to the bar to receive money from the fed, small businesses having to close or let go workers.
But Obama and Trump, excluding Obamacare – we are seeing life being brought back in America. People are able to get a mortgage, standing inventory is almost gone, job demand is up (meaning we can negotiate and turn down work for higher wages).
So 8 years of dark ages, I would say between the Bush and Obama administration.
If you saddle the IC with a belligerent dumb hack Trumper as DNI, it’s not gonna go well.
But business will be good for DC reporters eager to hear “interesting” things about the new DNI.
