A posting from a teacher with questions that haven’t been addressed, I am re-posting Stolen from a friend: “I no longer teach, but here are some important questions.
Betsy DeVos, we have a few questions for you:
• If a teacher tests positive for COVID-19 are they required to quarantine for 2-3 weeks? Is their sick leave covered, paid?
• If that teacher has 5 classes a day with 30 students each, do all 150 of those students need to then stay home and quarantine for 14 days?
• Do all 150 of those students now have to get tested? Who pays for those tests? Are they happening at school? How are the parents being notified? Does everyone in each of those kids’ families need to get tested? Who pays for that?
• What if someone who lives in the same house as a teacher tests positive? Does that teacher now need to take 14 days off of work to quarantine? Is that time off covered? Paid?
• Where is the district going to find a substitute teacher who will work in a classroom full of exposed, possibly infected students for substitute pay?
• Substitutes teach in multiple schools. What if they are diagnosed with COVID-19? Do all the kids in each school now have to quarantine and get tested? Who is going to pay for that?
• What if a student in your kid’s class tests positive? What if your kid tests positive? Does every other student and teacher they have been around quarantine? Do we all get notified who is infected and when? Or because of HIPAA regulations are parents and teachers just going to get mysterious “may have been in contact” emails all year long?
• What is this stress going to do to our teachers? How does it affect their health and well-being? How does it affect their ability to teach? How does it affect the quality of education they are able to provide? What is it going to do to our kids? What are the long-term effects of consistently being stressed out?
• How will it affect students and faculty when the first teacher in their school dies from this? The first parent of a student who brought it home? The first kid?
• How many more people are going to die, that otherwise would not have if we had stayed home longer?
30% of the teachers in the US are over 50. About 16% of the total deaths in the US are people between the ages of 45-65.
We are choosing to put our teachers in danger.
We’re not paying them more.
We aren’t spending anywhere near the right amount to protect them. And in turn, we are putting ourselves and our kids in danger.”
Just go home a hide in fear. I’m gonna live as if COVID-19 is just a normal cold or flu.
@Steve-USMCVET Trumpler hid in a bunker; when he got out and he wanted to use kids and elderly to sacrifice for the election.
Trump has no plan , no safe plan he’s an idiot to think kids can go back ! No patent wants to send there child to School to die or get very ill…. It’s impossible !! It’s totally dangerous for our kids n teachers , staff ! Trump is a total failure ! This us Political only he dsnt care about our kids or teachers or the parents ! He is incompetent n he’s shameful to threaten all of us n the Schools ! He’s crazy totally insane ! He’s own niece says he’s crazy n narcissistic ! He’s has failed completely !! He’s not a leader he’s a very evil man !!
@Chris E. no patent us going to send their child ! It’s way to dangerous!! Trump’s insane to force parents to do this n threaten Schools also ! He has failed the Country completely !! My grandchildren will not return to School at all !!!
And we all know children touch everything, I watched my nephew yesterday, at my house he touched nearly every in the room before he left, had he been exposed.
I can guarantee you I would be too.
He even touched my coffee cup rim and my can of Vienna sausages that I was about to eat, if children go to school, they will no doubt touch everything around them there too, * Schools reopening is a death sentence to many, kids pass viruses worse than any humans*
Ofcourse the emperor still thinks he’s still wearing clothes…
@Christy Johnson To kill more Americans through ignoring Covid-19 or ignoring Putin paying the Taliban to kill American soldiers?
@Little Nat Yeah Cuomo, as in КОЗЫРЬ!!(oh it’s Russian for???)
Getting fooled by cnn i see cnn is fake news
Silver Dime Sean Hannity is drinking the Trump Kool -Aid. Looks like you are too! Sad days ahead. Prepare yourself … we are going downhill! I can’t believe there are so many idiots that have faith in Trump. He and his swamp need to be removed.

Straight B.S, two months without a briefing – we have no leadership.
@Doc No. The original comment was by Lorenzo A who said that there had not been a briefing in two months…which was not true…that was the comment that I was responding to. Then you commented that Fauci wasn’t at the briefing and I said what difference does that make? Do you think the CDC director, Dr. Birx, four-star admiral in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. are not reliable? Why must only Fauci be there? You are starting to sound like you have a political motivation instead of an honest broker.
@votive jesus christ, the original comment was talking about Fauci, you know, the ENTIRE TOPIC of the video we’re on. That was the topic of the video, that was the topic of the first comment. If the video was about the entire white house task force you might have a point, but it wasn’t, and you don’t. You misunderstood the first comment’s intention and it has led you down a road of confusion. And also, I never said ONLY Fauci should be there. I was saying that the leading expert in the country and possibly the world on infectious diseases should NEVER not be at those briefings. He’s the leading expert in infectious diseases for christ sake and you think it doesn’t matter if he’s not there, but instead cite me with political motivations. Just beyond ridiculous.
You’re had no leadership since the 70s….
Why do you want it now..?
The middle class is history.. your young are zombie apocalypse junkies…

Trump lying? Naah, it’s just that he lives in an alternate reality where “lies” are modified facts, “massaged” to fit his agenda…
No you are just misinformed
@Legend Gaming R6 Trump live in his own bubble and say what he believes. So u need to quit doing th same. I have lost family members to this virus
He’s living in the donnieverse..
Are you talking about CNN?
You’ll notice ALL the states that are doing so “poorly” are the last states to be hit hard! Every state will take their turn, period.
The states being hit hard are those who didn’t take safety precautions seriously and are now seeing the results of that.
look at Europe and how they managed to lower the infection rate by following the advice of doctors and putting partisan politics aside.
Rmp
@fred smith exactly I don’t understand why people listen to people that aren’t doc and scientists they listen to our political people who dont know wtf they are talking about it’s common sense or at least I thought it was lol
@fred smith watch what happens when 1 asymptomatic person rolls into a plane or sports arena…you act as if its all over with in other countries… there maybe never a cure, it could come back every year.
Also Americas death rate per capita is way better than most European countries.
@Matt C The UK has the worst European death rate (after Belgium, which is a bit of a special case) , the US is catching up with the UK fast and in fact is already much worse than MOST European countries, (only 8 out of 45 countries are worse than the US average, and none are more than 50% of the death rate of your worst hit states, excluding San Marino, which only had 42 deaths, but in a tiny population.). Your worst hit states have had much higher death rates than any European country .You had more forewarning of what would happen and massive economic resource to help, but your governments , state and federal, have messed up big time and continue to do so. America is better than this, you just need to engage with facts and good governance.
“When you test, you create cases”… sounds like he thinks the test itself is contagious🤦🏻♀️ This isn’t that hard to understand- the sooner you shut down tight and follow the experts advices, the sooner you can reopen safely and get the numbers down. How is it unconstitutional to put a bit of cloth over your mouth and nose to safe your fellow Americans. Isn’t this ONE nation under God?
“We’ve done more testing than anyone” ….we’ve had the best testing…….the biggest testing…..the most perfect testing…..so I’ve been told. Lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Engineered bat virus stirs debate over risky research
Lab-made coronavirus related to SARS can infect human cells.
Editors’ note, March 2020: We are aware that this story is being used as the basis for unverified theories that the novel coronavirus causing
COVID-19 was engineered. There is no evidence that this is true; scientists believe that an animal is the most likely source of the coronavirus.
12 November 2015
An experiment that created a hybrid version of a bat coronavirus — one related to the virus that causes SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome)
— has triggered renewed debate over whether engineering lab variants of viruses with possible pandemic potential is worth the risks.
In an article published in Nature Medicine1 on 9 November, scientists investigated a virus called SHC014, which is found in horseshoe bats in
China. The researchers created a chimaeric virus, made up of a surface protein of SHC014 and the backbone of a SARS virus that had been
adapted to grow in mice and to mimic human disease. The chimaera infected human airway cells — proving that the surface protein of SHC014 has
the necessary structure to bind to a key receptor on the cells and to infect them. It also caused disease in mice, but did not kill them.
Although almost all coronaviruses isolated from bats have not been able to bind to the key human receptor, SHC014 is not the first that can do so.
In 2013, researchers reported this ability for the first time in a different coronavirus isolated from the same bat population2. The findings reinforce suspicions that bat coronaviruses capable of directly infecting humans (rather than first
needing to evolve in an intermediate animal host) may be more common than previously thought, the researchers
say.
But other virologists question whether the information gleaned from the experiment justifies the potential risk.
Although the extent of any risk is difficult to assess, Simon Wain-Hobson, a virologist at the Pasteur Institute in
Paris, points out that the researchers have created a novel virus that “grows remarkably well” in human cells. “If

the virus escaped, nobody could predict the trajectory,” he says. Biosafety in the balance
Creation of a chimaera
The argument is essentially a rerun of the debate over whether to allow lab research that increases the virulence, ease of spread or host range of
dangerous pathogens — what is known as ‘gain-of-function’ research. In October 2014, the US government imposed a moratorium on federal
funding of such research on the viruses that cause SARS, influenza and MERS (Middle East respiratory syndrome, a deadly disease caused by a
virus that sporadically jumps from camels to people).
The latest study was already under way before the US moratorium began, and the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) allowed it to proceed while
it was under review by the agency, says Ralph Baric, an infectious-disease researcher at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a co-author
of the study. The NIH eventually concluded that the work was not so risky as to fall under the moratorium, he says.
But Wain-Hobson disapproves of the study because, he says, it provides little benefit, and reveals little about the risk that the wild SHC014 virus in
bats poses to humans.
Other experiments in the study show that the virus in wild bats would need to evolve to pose any threat to humans — a change that may never
happen, although it cannot be ruled out. Baric and his team reconstructed the wild virus from its genome sequence and found that it grew poorly in
human cell cultures and caused no significant disease in mice.
“The only impact of this work is the creation, in a lab, of a new, non-natural risk,” agrees Richard Ebright, a molecular biologist and biodefence
expert at Rutgers University in Piscataway, New Jersey. Both Ebright and Wain-Hobson are long-standing critics of gain-of-function research.
In their paper, the study authors also concede that funders may think twice about allowing such experiments in the future. “Scientific review panels
may deem similar studies building chimeric viruses based on circulating strains too risky to pursue,” they write, adding that discussion is needed as
to “whether these types of chimeric virus studies warrant further investigation versus the inherent risks involved”.
Useful research
But Baric and others say the research did have benefits. The study findings “move this virus from a candidate emerging pathogen to a clear and
present danger”, says Peter Daszak, who co-authored the 2013 paper. Daszak is president of the EcoHealth Alliance, an international network of
scientists, headquartered in New York City, that samples viruses from animals and people in emerging-diseases hotspots across the globe.

Studies testing hybrid viruses in human cell culture and animal models are limited in what they can say about the threat posed by a wild virus,
Daszak agrees. But he argues that they can help indicate which pathogens should be prioritized for further research attention.
Without the experiments, says Baric, the SHC014 virus would still be seen as not a threat. Previously, scientists had believed, on the basis of
molecular modelling and other studies, that it should not be able to infect human cells. The latest work shows that the virus has already overcome
critical barriers, such as being able to latch onto human receptors and efficiently infect human airway cells, he says. “I don’t think you can ignore
that.” He plans to do further studies with the virus in non-human primates, which may yield data more relevant to humans.

I totally agree I felt the same way.
“When you test you create cases”😂😂☠☠ I guess we should stop testing for HIV and cancer and voila! No more HIV and cancer. Never thought it would be that easy.
Yeah, except HIV and cancer are real and serious, but nobody seems to care about that as much. Awesome comparison, super sleuth.
Wow! Trump is Really a “Stable Genius!”. By NOT testing for Cancer, we will not have any Cancer! The Mental Giant Has Cured Cancer! Seeee How Brilliant Trump Is !!! He’s smarter than Einstein! Just as he said, “I know more about ISIS than the Generals!” Little wonder, “He is the Chosen One!”
@phsy, So you believe that the covid virus is not? You must be a stable genius like the Great Pumpkin!
JR N – I watched his car crash of a campaign rally he had today in the Rose Garden. He literally said “if we did half the testing, we’d have half the cases. Then you cut that in half, and…..ya know. So, more testing CAUSES more cases”. People are gonna trust this guy when he says the schools will be open? FFS.
The population problem solved by the stable genius in one fell swoop, stop pregnancy tests and women will not get pregnant, bingo!.
Don’t call it “leadership” when there is none
He’s keeping the economy running and that’s the best leadership anyone can do under the circumstances. If the democrats were in charge, we would all be locked up in FEMA camps waiting for a poisonous vaccine to “free” us. Trump is actually doing the best thing possible in these difficult times. If you lock people up, you crash the economy, and create a health and welfare catastrophe.
