ERCOT Board Members Resign Amid Aftermath Of Power Grid Failure | Katy Tur | MSNBC
Not good enough. Abbot and others need to be held accountable.
True. Whats going to happen is Abbott is going to blame & pursue these board members, who undoubtedly bare some responsibility for this disaster.
I think it’s safe to say Democrats support BLM LGBTQ and defunding the police

@William H Music 2020 Idiotic attempt at deflection.
@warpedjaffas1 Yep, Abbott is that stupid.
🐍Cancun Cruz🏖👎
Sorry, you don’t just get to resign. People died.
SMALL GOVERNMENT WORKS UNTIL IT DOESNT!!!
@warpedjaffas1 so sorry, that post was NOT meant for you.

The decisions board members made got Texans dead & cost billions.
Resignations are insufficient.
They have looted the system and now they are leaving town. Just like trump, they are leaving the mess for others to clean up.
I wonder if the American people will see any stimulus checks before this summer when gasoline is $6 a gallon 😳

Will be guaranteed to have packages they leave with. Made bank!!

Scapegoats with golden parachutes. Don’t you just love business ethics in America?
@John Penley Champagne wishes, caviar dreams…
Exactly what I was thinking!
Business ethics is a thing of the past.
It’s what the majority has voted for decade upon decsde

Texans should try and talk AOC into changing her residency to Texas, and becoming their representative. She’s already proven herself to be a better leader and representative for them than their actual reps. 😄
No, they should go to Beto O’Rourke, who has also been helping intensively, and apologize profusely for not choosing him over Cruz when they had the chance.
@David J Nobody has proven any wind turbines actually froze while in service.
Due to outdated and politically mandated rules, wind turbines until recently were installed as grid following devices, in the same manner as most rooftop solar inverters.
Once a fossil plant trips all the co-connected grid following generating capacity becomes stranded and prone to freezing.
In the aftermath of this political debacle, storage and grid forming inverters need to be added to existing grid scale renewables.
The newly installed equipment will quickly pay for itself via FCAS and arbitrage. New generating equipment needs to be specified as 100% grid forming.
This move alone will drastically reduce the risk of cold weather harm to the system at zero long term cost.
@MLIOGJXNUYAT Edward is a lightweight and a looser. We pumped millions into his campaign. He seemed at a loss all the time. He had no division and no plan.
@esam 65 If any of these denialists had the intelligence to blow air across a block of ice and measure the before and after temperature while observing the melting ice, they would gain an understanding of the relationship between the polar vortex induced cold snaps and the loss of Arctic ice.
Unfortunately denial and intelligence are mutually exclusive terms.
@T. R. CampbellYou’re talking about 1980s, which at the time we do not have the necessary technology to fully harness it. Its different now, with new technological at our disposal to fully enjoy renewable energy.
Republican Utopia Reached. 😏

Yeah, they actually want to have a zombie apocalypse…if society collapses, then they can have the world they dream of, a world were having a gun makes you powerful
Energy companies made a fortune. Supply and demand
@Steven Fry Yeah, and while we’re at it, drug companies should cut production of life saving drugs, and then charging 100x the usual price? Sure, people will die, but it’s just innocent old “supply and demand”, right?
@fredy gump they already do. Bury patents, restrict supplies, remove to make some because of profitability. It’s a for profit, private sector and they do not work for your good unless it helps the bottom line.
If they’re resigning, then an investigation needs to be done on those who are resigning. Resigning is a sign of guilt.
Nope. They are the scapegoats for the GQP.
Rats jumping ship. Anybody really surprised?
You aren’t going to fix this until the GOP is kicked out.
Only Texans can do that
@Freya zaldivar They will, when Texas flips to blue… which should happen anytime during the next couple of years.
🐍🚫Cancun Cruz🏝
you have that backward…the Austin liberals are the problem pushing “green energy” which could supplement but not be primary energy.
ERCOT is only a part of the problem and the resignations are simply to find a scapegoat and deflect attention away from elected officials such as current Gov. Abbott and Lt. Gov. Because of ineptitude and de-regulated market which does not incentivize winterizing energy plants/equipment, many fellow Texans died unnecessarily but if you’re a fellow Texan hope you remember this when voting comes around since we Texans cannot let these consequences of our elections happen again.
It helps, but will not solve anything. They have to “get rid” of the Texas politicians receiving kickbacks on behalf of these companies! Facts!!
Everything is bigger in Texas, including but not limited to, abject stupidity.
Atleast now we know you can have different amounts of stupid. In this case, they had a whole lot of it!

Not stupidity, greed. ERCOT made the decision not to winterize, even when they were strongly urged to by the Feds after the similar 2011 storm. Why? Because that would cost money. And Texas deregulated, so no-one was forcing them to do it.
This is Flint Michigan all over again. These government officials need to be prosecuted.
Start it’s the governor and all of the grids boards
Get Texas on the national grid.
They have their own Flint. It’s called Sandbranch. They didn’t have water before all this!
I don’t believe we can count on government officials anymore. For many years I have had an 8K gasoline operated generator which is more than sufficient to operate our place in a limited basis. Not everything can run at the same time but I can keep the central appliances operational to include refrigerator and freezer. We have a gas stove so I can cook. I can also grill outside. I think we have to be more and more self reliant.

Whoever thought it was a good idea to buy those stupid wind generators to be prosecuted. Whoever thought the tried-and-true call powered electrical generator should be done away with should be prosecuted. People die because of those stupid mistakes. We need to go back to what we know works. The Chinese had the same problem in North Carolina, bitter cold and freezing rain. They released their embargo of Australian coal unloaded ships and sent the coal to northern China to keep everybody warm.
This is what you get when you vote for Republicans… Everything burns down around you…
And they just walk away
@cory ce or fly south to Mexico
I disagree, Nothing burned and that was the problem. Everything was frozen with ice. The only things operational were the very few fossil fuels and nuclear power plants that were still generating.
Isn’t this what in the olden days was called ‘the rats fleeing the sinking ship’?
ripped off customers then resigned….
give those customers their money back and compensate them for their losses.
He filled a suitcase with money.
Then resigned to his new island.
Texas ever heard of Enron.
The first thing came to mind…
5 resigned officials on flights to Cancun
This disaster proves that a state go at it alone approach in “market economy approach” doesnt bode well for people, businesses, or dogs named Snowflake.
The fact that they all lived out of state is telling. All they cared about was their pockets.
