Damn that’s insane. I haven’t bought eggs for a few years since I got chickens but didn’t know they went up that much
@neb avian flu is now Biden’s fault. Lmao. Moron
@Trump is going to prison not preparing for the avian flu (which happens every few years duh) is what makes it biden fault. Ofcourse you wouldn’t know that.
Repent and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. John 3:16 KJV For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Luke 13:3 KJV – I tell you nay: but except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
John 3:3 KJV – “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
Shut up before they start banning owning chickens
@Save 🇺🇸 what on earth are you talking about?
I just purchased a dozen of eggs last wk. I sure will be SLOWLY! Using them. I’m not a breakfast eater so that helps a lot. But when I seen the prices of eggs I thought it was missed priced. I had to stop a shopper to ask was this prices correct. And there is NO! cheap ones.
Those 6 chickens I bought last summer were a solid investment
@Hakkebrakke well I won’t lie to you 39 eggs per week is on the high side for 7 chickens this time of year, my six are giving me about 2 dozen a week, but 7 young layers in the summer, when the days are long, could probably manage it. Then you have eggs to eat plus extra to sell to your friends and family, and the poop makes great natural fertilizer
Keep them safe from the bird flu
@aximilian15 he should put masks on them and they will be fine
@Chris Bammer What u feed em

In other news, corporate profits soar, too! 🤔
According to what? Not going to back up your claim by anything? No, if anything the farmers are getting bailed out by tax payers money for a pandemic spreading among billions of live hens that they keep in very close quarters.
Record breaking profits!
CEO bonuses at an all time high….
The prices will never go down. The same thing happened with mad cow disease. It’s a way for them to make more money.
Most will get wasted cause of the price.
There is always some virus some outbreak, what in the world
Thanks God for all these “Trials and Tribulations” you love to subject us to.
I guess I’ll buy a few live chickens and get mine the old fashioned way.🥚🐣🐔🤔
I wanted to make a Breakfast Quiche for my whole family to enjoy but I wasn’t approved for the second mortgage soooo… 👉👈
I made Tuna Casserole!
Makes me wonder how much the price of chicken itself is rising. I doubt if this “deadly virus” is confining itself to egg factories. If the meat isn’t also skyrocketing, then I wonder why these egg prices are.
Egg producing chickens need to live longer than meat chickens, so death due to any illness has a bigger effect
A vaccine, against avian flu and Newcastle’s disease exists, but is not used because 1. it prevents antigenic surveillance, and 2. it is rather expensive.
That’s a lot to shell out for eggs.
Eggs going up in price like this will make *everything* that uses eggs more expensive.
This isn’t sustainable. Hopefully things get worked out soon.
My local Chinese restaurant no longer offers egg foo young. Damn avian flu!
What’s great is that consumers have shown that they will pay the higher prices. So what is the motivation for sellers to charge less for them?
Other sellers
I’ve been eggless for over a decade… didn’t even know the price was that high.
Where in NY did you find such a reasonable price ? I looked all over, the cheapest are 5.99 and the highest are 10.99.
Great news story plant from the chicken egg industry, thank you CNN. Next time tell us the actual percentage of the price gouging that is directly due to the ‘deadly virus’ not just ‘part of the cause of it.’
Just one or two year ago egg price was under dollar a dozens at time, and usually for the last 5 years it just a bit more than a dollars. I simply am not eating eggs for a few months 🙂 too much cholesterol anyway.
