An economy that is fully dependent on tourism and foreign exchange is a questionable one. Ask the China and the Prime Minister
Lol. It as been like that for so long now. Had it not been for covid 19 it would be business as usual.
Agreed. Jamaica needs to make a shift.
Ask Portia, PJ, Seaga, Michael. unu stop giving Andrew basket fi carry wata!
So true
The economy is not only dependent on tourism, mining is the biggrst sector with the aluminum plant( jisco)close for refurbishing. But Jamaica is involved in a lot of activities, tourism.

We are going for a rough ride 2021 it’s not a easy road was. Now their is no roads
Mr guy you can do it next week remember that you said you will be the next government
Export goods to get u.s. $
You are joking right. I didn’t realize so many ignorant people out there lol
But wait a church this
Jamaica have too things to bring in revenue other than tourism a country cannot depend on one thing to grow economic
The govt should focus on diversifying the economy with Agriculture and the manufacturing industry being at the forefront.Dire attention should be place on financing the sector and smoother regulation that will attract others to the field. Also more investment in needed for cold storage facilities because so many wastage occur during the pandemic with produce rotting in the fields. That can help fill the gap with the US dollar and grow the economy.
@John Rutty because of inconsistency in our outdated farming practices , they are not able to supply the local market at an affordable price all year round. What we can do is grow on our strengths and export. Ginger, Coffee. Also we can promote our RUM and Cassava beer. Organic foods. import the bananas where it is cheaper export banana chips. pretty attack the niche markets.
@Kross I agree with you especially on the idea of the expansion of the BPO sector and IT. I am from Montego Bay and I have seen where most of the youth can earn a living and is in the process of furthering their tertiary education as a result of this. What I would want to see from whichever Govt that win is that they invest more in widespread technological infrastructure across the island and make it available to all- then ur suggestion would be easily implemented and that technology could also be use to improve the 2 sectors I mentioned above. I was looking more on what can be done now to help the local economy grow. As a student of logistic while doing my researchers I have found that we are not short on ideas as a country. I have found out that Hawaii one of the world largest producers of pineapple in the world, first got their set of pineapples from us and the farming techniques which they have adopted to make them a success. So too Singapore, a country with no natural resources came to Ja study our economic models adapted it to their country and now has one of the world’s best logistics hub and one of the more thriving economy. Trust me we are not short on ideas – we have brilliant minds. I see that the lack of implementation and the execution of these ideas by the govt as the problem.
@Tamara Smith Exactly… our major problem in Jamaica is that ppl support leaders in Jamaica like a battered spouse. No matter how much them abuse us, we are still supporting the party. What I have observed over the last 20yrs or more is a switch from the die hearted mentally by ppl in the rural areas.. Thus they are changing the political landscape and demanding more and getting more informed. I have met some truly ambitious , bright young ladies from the rural areas in the Jamaica. All I have saying to me,. Jamaica is the Greatest country in the world… We should aim for that standard.
@Kross Couldn’t agree more…We Jamaicans need to hold our political leader more accountable as well. Silence will not get the problem solved. Complaining will not get it solve either. Coming together as one and demanding changes is our first step.
@Tamara Smith When ppl with common sense don’t vote. Garrison areas will shape our future because they are more than willing to vote. To me, whether you are J or P vote for policies that help everyone, not just yourself. The country ppl are the ones demanding better Government now, they are where some of marginal seats are. They don’t play when it comes to politics these days. They demanding more and are actually getting more too. The young ppl there getting registered and are breaking away from their parents traditional believes. So that why I have personally not given up on Jamaicans.
When hunu a come a xiana make sure hunu got hunu money no vote
Companies in Jamaica don’t inform their workers that they can claim tax return from the government and persons work and pay taxes for years and never claim back a dime as their company never give them the p45 form
The balla man include ina the 10 ppl?😂😂
🗣️ Weeeaak pnp weeeaak
Then you cutback back on , your spending on imports.
Food is a big expense to the deficit.
Eat the food, from Jamaica.
Help improve the farming sector.
Plant plant grow food feed the nation and then the wider world ….
Up up up up ☝🏽
Take a look at the other sectors, like mining and farming exports
How long your road being bad? Give them more time , you want them to fix it in one term when your party was in there 18 years straight. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Maybe patch and graded soon. The’re places in Jamaica that need help, that many people use and businesses that are not crying out so load, I guess the wheel that makes the most noise gets the oil. But they have dome a lot of work all over the island in housing, industry, mining, farming, roads, covid19 and is trying to keep the economy afloat.Give another term.
A lots of Jamaica roads been like that for the pass 30 years especially in the country roads are in deplorable condition. Some of these road would scare even donkey. And these were road that buses us to be routed. One government can’t fix every thing. The MP only make promises to the people and enjoy the position and laugh at the people
