Police in Alberta are reminding Albertans that owning a self-driving car doesn’t mean they don’t have to follow the rules. David Ewasuk reports.

हालत कैसे भी हो बहादुर रोया नहीं करते,
सीने में जिनके जूनून हो वो हिम्मत खोया नहीं करते.,,
get out
That must’ve been quite the wake up call
literally
3 minutes without touching the wheel the car will stop… Proof you cannot sleep and drive a Tesla… He was laid back yes, but to say he was sleeping is going to be proven false in the courts no doubt…
Why would it speed when on auto pilot?
@Kai Redekopp no you cannot. Autopilot is limited to 10kph over the limit. You cannot set it above this.
@Matt Vella “The future use of these features without supervision is dependent on achieving reliability far in excess of human drivers as demonstrated by billions of miles of experience, as well as regulatory approval, which may take longer in some jurisdictions. As these self-driving capabilities are introduced, your car will be continuously upgraded through over-the-air software updates.” From Tesla’s own website. Fully autonomous driving is a planned feature, not an implemented one. You still need a driver, both by law and by the company’s own admission.
because it’s a crappy overhyped software from the Holly Musk, lol.
@Michael it should automatically print the ticket then.
It was a hack to keep the autopilot, but disable the need for hands on the wheel.
if you got enough money to get a tesla u got money to tint all the windows
Darker tint? The cops coming faster than when you sleep on a Tesla
😆
tint over a certain level is illegal in most Canadian provinces
Nuff money for a driver too
It’s illegal to tint the front side windows!
what a fckin moroon
Tesla drivers who pretend their “auto pilot” is actually a reliable autonomous self driving system are not morons. They’re criminals.
Jim Trainor how
@Ale p The systems are sold as driver supervised “auto pilot”. The driving codes don’t permit autonomous unsupervised vehicle operation. If you operate your car without immediate and constant driver supervision you’re breaking the law as it is written today.
they should outlaw this
@greenbay Hey wait, let’s not get extreme
@greenbay that would work!! Ban drugs while there at it too. That’ll stop it
the car stops if you don’t touch the wheel every 3 minutes …
Sleeping while driving is impossible, unless you can use your hands while sleeping 😛
@TroColp68 ban him from driving
He should have had a dummy in the seat and driven the speed limit
He could’ve gotten away with it if he wasn’t speeding.
Still dangerous
Other drivers called it in. Police didn’t “notice” the car as reported here…
@S Rennie he needs tints
Why would you cruise at 150km…and think you can sleep.
Do you have an answer?
Helps to get past the hangover from the party the night(s) before?
Something sounds fishy here. Autopilot won’t go 10Km/h above the speed limit when active.
He’s gonna go to fight the dangerous driving charge in court by saying he was never actually driving
Th3namesadam that’s the point
@Harkaran Dhami it was a joke if you didn’t get it
I also thought of this instantly….that this would be his rebuttal
BRUH…
@Th3namesadam but did you catch mine?
When these vehicles take over the roads and accident rates drop by like 99.99% I hope insurance premiums drop by the same amount.
They gonna double
Having drivers sleeping or watching tv in their vehicles will only increase the insurance coverage, and the sky is the limit!
I wonder how many times this guy does this
Why would he set the cruise at such a high speed, Oh I get it, it was a power Nap!
A 20 year old driving a Tesla, and clearly a responsible one. From BC, I guess his Ferrari was in the shop.
Y’all bashing on the guy for driving the Tesla. He’s not driving, he’s travelling.
Ha ha I know where you’re going with that comment.
….and therein lies the problem.
LOL, ok that got a legit chuckle out of me.
Compared to other Alberta drivers he was probably the safest
ulysse – Now that you mention it, whenever I see an Alberta plate in my province, I give them a wide berth, lol!
Quickly now, let’s mandate a driver training program that costs 10k so class 5 drivers learn to not fall asleep
Huh weird, who could have possibly seen this coming?! (sarcasm disclaimer, for you smooth-brains who didn’t see this coming…)
Reminds me of the Archie comic where Jughead sleeps in class while his eyelids have painted eyes on them…
Karen?
Gimme one of those cars, and I’d most likely fall asleep as well. Hard enough time driving my 2002 Cavalier :))
