By letting this virus gain a strong foothold now we are setting ourselves up for a worse second wave. Remember the Spanish Flu’s second wave was far more devastating than the first.

just read a news article on KRQE a local newstation here in NM that the mutated form of coronavirus is reinfecting ” recovered” patients.
The reason why the Trump administration shelved the detailed guide is because none of the states currently meet all the guidelines. Mark my words, every single state in the U.S. will reopen their economy by the end of May regardless of how many COVID-19 cases or deaths there are or whether they have done enough testing in any particular state. Don’t matter if it’s a Republican or Democrat run state. Public school nationwide will reopen in the Fall.
How do I know this? It’s because from the start of this pandemic, Bill Gates said to shut down the nation for 6 to 10 weeks then reopen the economy by the end of May 2020 and open public schools in the Fall. Thus, all governors will blindly reopen their governments because there are no guidelines in place. Trump will continue to pressure all governors to reopen just as he recently pressured the governor of Virginia, the only state with a stay-at-home order that extends beyond May, to comply. While this is still a theory, time will tell.
@kokoleka808 Oregon has had a very low infection rate because we closed down in March.. Even so, we’re having about 75 new cases a day, and we’ve had about 115 deaths. Our Governor just ordered us to stay locked down until July 6, although she has reopened some parks, camping areas, and boat ramps. Our ocean beaches are still closed.

There is actually a different phylogenetic study that has mainly been overlooked. It is from about a month ago and researched the early spread. They found one ancestor strain that did not spread much in China, but went to U.S. West coast and other places, a daughter strain which was the one in Wuhan and a daughter strain to that one that spread to Europe. Pnas.org.
If correct it may point to why the infection rate is so different in various places.
Again, not peer reviewed, but interesting just the same. Hope more will come out soon.

Infection by the cold virus doesn’t give immunity. You can easily get a cold several times a year. Covid-19 has already mutated at least once, so look forward to, at best getting only partial protection by a vaccine.
