Honestly as someone on the outside I think the JLP going to win back. Don’t think the PNP stand a chance. Looking at him and hearing him speaking I don’t think he’s ready for the job. I am just being honest.
Its pretty obvious
Peter have honesty over holeness who did nothing to Jamaica real problems .only for his team of (young) get rich quick scammers.
@Karl Balance ye keep dreaming granny. Always keeping the same people in power and expecting change.
@michael michael 😊❤️your comment
Totally agree!!!
The elections, the elections, the elections . Why are your approval ratings low? Thats the question
He is going around the question
I feel so sorry for the persons voting for pnp, cant u guys see ur leader dosent have a vision?
He’s hoping his candidates get the votes for him, he knows no one will vote for him.
Him cant do worst Dan antrue
@Karl Balance actually he has done worse, he was the main conspirator to get rid of Sister P…Ain’t that some truth? 😂😂
@Karl Balance He will and he has. Firstly, I am a Jamaican first and foremost. What JLP has done for me and others in the last 4 years is more than what the PNP has done in more than 22 1/2. I will just mention the achievements of Min of Finance for now as time will not allow me to comment on the others. Dr. Nigel Clark has delivered on the 1.5M under PAYE, removed Minimum Business Tax (MBT) and Asset Tax, reduced GCT by 1.5%, removed stamp duty and reduced NHT twice. I benefitted from all of these except for stamp duty. Removal of stamp duty will help anybody borrowing right now. The last loan I borrowed from BNS was 3.8M. This was to help me with construction, I had to pay $70k+ for stamp duty to the government, now it is $6,000.00. Similarly, if you are buying a house, I used to pay as high as 5.5% until the JLP brought it down to 3%, now Nigel Clarke has gone even further, he has reduced it to $6,000.00. These things are unheard of by any government. I saw Peter Phillips implement MBT and forced my small business which was making no profit to pay $60k per year even though I was already working and paying taxes under PAYE. I used to work for an International Company and part of my job was filing their Asset Tax, they would pay $30k per year . That company had hundreds of millions of dollars in assets. And I saw Peter Phillips put my very small business in the category with those big companies. I borrowed money and bought a building for $15M which I rented. I had to pay not the $30k that my former company used to pay but he increased it to $75k in 2014 putting my little asset in the category with companies which had assets for $100M. And he did not stop there, he increased it to $150k the very next year. Nigel Clark removed those taxes in 2019. I saw many friends who I knew had small businesses on the side run to close them because they said that the could not afford to pay these taxes. It is hard, you work and you pay taxes, you do not want to depend on a 9-5 only as that is the recipe for remaining in poverty, so you make sacrifices and try to do something on the side but I felt like I was literally under a choke hold with him. I had to contemplate several things: am I going to fold like everyone else, should I pay the taxes and don’t pay the loan but this would mean me losing the office which I struggled to buy. I had some tough choices, suffice to say, I am still paying those back taxes to date, very sad. I must say Peter Phillios outside of Omar Davis under whose watch we had the 90s meltdown has done more harm to the small and medium businesses than any other Finance Minister in my lifetime. I do remember the 90s meltdown, ironically I was working at the Central Bank, my first job out of high school and I witnessed firsthand the meltdown of the 90s, it was very sad and I have not forgotten that, I was only 18 yo then but I remember. Business people lost the very shirts of their backs, ordinary people lost their money to the banks. And after all this, all this time and experience of leading a country Peter Phillips and his party still don’t have any plans for Jamaica yet they want to lead . Last point: corruption. The 2 parties are corrupt. I hate stealing and corruption, I work too hard and pay too much in taxes to allow this. Also, too many poor people who are in need, our country is still in need of a lot more in terms of our infrastructure and a lot more other things. I must say, I am seeing where this has started. So as my granny would tell me “no better barrel, no better herring”, that is ” di 2 a dem tief”. However, one upside is that this is PNP country, I have always maintained that, especially since I lived and worked under the 18 1/2 years of black man time now so there are enough comrades in government offices to bawl out the “tiefing” under the JLP which is good. Then the public and media can apply the pressure to get these crooks out, the investigation done and charges brought against them based on the outcome. This, my fellow Jamaican is much harder to hear under PNP, though there were several under PJ. Bless.
Exactly so true
He barely can form his words can he run
All u all old politicians doing twenty plus years and we see no changes, need to go!
I’ve been saying this when will Jamaica wake up yo these vampires
They are all screaming Andrew Holness now but after election you go hear dem a chat bout no job nuh deh here and how dem hungry.
I have to make an exception for this man. He has done alot for this country that unfortunately his team is not promoting to the public. The world is in a global crisis and it is going to get worse and I believe Peter Phillips is the best person to manoeuvre what’s to come. He is well experienced, tried and proven. I know Andrew is popular now after the good standing and surplus obtained from this man’s hardwork. Andrew has squandered, pillaged and mismanged the funds for political points. I know Jamaica will not choose Peter but mark my words Jamaica is going to pay dearly!!!!
Better than young crooks
this man nuh have not even one plan fi jamaica, a pension him a look!
Why did you fight out sista P, so you can collect your pension?
@Vilya Thomas yes we are, you’re boss is not 🙂

Oh Lord help him he can’t even talk
You need to give young people a chances time for you to go Peter
Young leader a scammer
Totally agree, while you are at it, can you also send on Audley Shaw, Mike Henry and Samuda. They are all older than he. Shaw is obviously very ill and he won’t go!
The difference is those 3 politicians name you mentioned are not running for Prime Minister. They dont lead a party.
@Vilya Thomas damn greedy them greedy
Omg I felt so bad for him last night. What a mockery.
Better than holeness ..an the forty thieves weh pack up Ina him office..👿👿👿👿👿
@Karl Balance At PJ Patterson’s inauguration in 1993, he got a standing ovation when he declared his Government would be a transparent one… no doubt having the Shell waiver scandal $29.5 million (1991) and the furniture scandal ($10.6 million) on his mind while the audience cheered gladly.
But between 1997 and 2002 there was the $5.5-billion Operation PRIDE/ NHDC scandal. This was to be followed by the public sector salary scandal of $60 million, NetServ with $220 million, followed by an additional amount spent on a plant in St Thomas for which it was later discovered there were no takers for the investment planned.
The NSWMA scandal erupted in 2005, costing conservatively $2 billion. There were cost overruns on a number of projects over the periods 1995-1998 and 2001-2004, involving companies owned by former PNP members of parliament and other highly placed persons within the PNP. These amounted to $8 billion.
If one does the arithmetic and factors in the zinc scandal in 1989 ($500 million), we are approaching between $18 and $20 billion of waste and corruption over that period when the PNP was in power.
Then came Portia Simpson Miller announcing she intended to stamp out corruption and that pastors would be used as chairmen of boards. The laughter among sensible people who were not naïve could be heard across the length and breadth of Jamaica
Vote JLP in this yah Election.
Zero charisma, zero charm, no vim, no vigor, no vitality!
That aside, he’s a decent man but still cannot carry Andrew Holness sweaty jack strap!
However, he is effective. In terms of the work he did as finance minister and minister of national security, there is no doubt. As population we lack a certain level of sophistication, and it may have something to do with having the most number of churches per capita, that we cannot sit down and reason things out. It has to be wrapped in a whole lot of emotionalism and hype. Where has that gotten us? Let us reflect on capacity, ideas, plans and accomplishments. And if that is the case Andrew need to go and wash his dutty sweaty jock strap himself.
What did Peter Phillips do as Min of Finance, pass the IMF test with flying colors. He taxed us until there was nothing left to tax. When the JLP came with the 1.5, he was the first to bawl out, it can’t work. Dr. Nigel Clarke came in delivered the 1.5M, removed Minimum Business Tax (MBT), removed Asset Tax, reduced GCT by 1.5%, significantly reduced stamp duty replacing it with a flat fee. Those things are very tangible things that have impacted me and several people across Jamaica. Let me not even get into Min of Security where crime rate soared under his tenure. He may be hardworking but for me, it makes no sense to be working hard and have little to show for it. Peter Phillips is out of touch with reality, sad to say. He lacks empathy and people skills. If he did have these, he would have realized that it is not just about exceeding the IMF targets but, you must also balance this with the needs/feelings of the people you are leading. This is a requirement of a leader. I am actually sorry for him at this point, as you said, he worked hard but to what end. As for corruption, sad to say, this is a feature of both parties.
You are quite right, but charisma and charm are not synonymous with good governance and honest, transparent management. Peter Phillips has a proven track record of performance in his various cabinet portfolios. As a minister of government, I expect more then a pair of green clarks shoes, glib (fluent but insincere and shallow) chat and polished PR photos… and above all Peter Phillips does not lead a band of 40 thieves! Jamaica has lost it’s integrity and by extension it’s soul. God Help us, when charisma, charm and a sweaty jock strap takes precedence over strong values, honesty, ability and vision.
@N.K Cooper so true
I swear phillips look like him under him rum 🤣
Dwl dont do it
Dwl😆😆
…and those making ludicrous comments in support of him…
😂😂
This is truly a disgrace, it really hurts my heart to see such mediocre and lack of vision…it really troubles me but deep down his colleagues and himself knows he is bad business but still he insist, he straight up have no care for jamaicans
Why should him leave all him accomplishment to scammers..
This man not answering the question the way he should
Not to be disrespectful, but him look tired. Him nuh look ready nor sound ready. Him look like if she stop talking to him, him drop asleep in 3 minutes.
Looks can be deceiving
😆😆
Sorry Dr. Phillips, I’m not convinced.
Miss.Deon you a pressure d G wid some serious question ,
A very Painful interview.
