Dominican Wynante Adrien-Roberts appointed New Deputy AG

FORMER Solicitor General of the Government of Dominica, Wynante Adrien-Roberts has been appointed as the new Deputy Attorney General.

She fills the position vacated in 2013 by now Attorney General, Rhondalee Braithwaite-Knowles when Huw Shepheard resigned as AG.

The appointment was announced on Monday (January 5) by the Attorney General during the opening of the Supreme Court for the new year.

“I am pleased to announce that Mrs Wynante Adrien-Roberts has today [Monday] taken up her position as Deputy Attorney General following the February 2014 vacancy,” she said.

“Mrs Adrien-Roberts is a thoroughly qualified and experienced attorney having been solicitor general in Dominica for many years before moving to the private bar.”

Adrien-Roberts will focus on training and development within the Chambers.

The new deputy is a former lawyer with Pinnacle Law Chambers in Dominica, before which she was Solicitor General of that island.

She was also part of the International Business Unit of the Government of Dominica.

She has experience in developing legislative regulatory framework for the financial services sector, assess applications for licences to operate offshore financial services, and ensure compliance with international best practices for the financial services sector.

Adrien-Roberts is a graduate of the George Washington University, School of Law where she earned her Master of Laws, LLM, international law, business, trade and environmental.

She earned her Legal Education Certificate, Law at the Norman Manley Law School, Jamaica.

She also attended the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus where she received her LLB, LLM, and Law.
