Dominica welcomes a new Chinese ambassador

Dominica finally welcomed a new Chinese ambassador, five months after the former ambassador bid farewell to the island.

The new Chinese Ambassador to Dominica who has been on the island for approximately two weeks, made his first public appearance when the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Embassy hosted a welcome reception in his honor,  at the Chinese Embassy in Morne Daniel, on Friday January 28th, 2011.

his inaugural speech, the new Chinese Ambassador to Dominica says he is quite honored to have been assigned as an ambassador to such a wonderful country.

He vowed to continue the work of his predecessor as the embassy continues in its thrust to strengthen ties between the two respective countries.

Meanwhile, Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Senator Alvin Bernard who represented the Prime Minister at the ceremony says the government of Dominica is looking forward to working with the new ambassador as they seek to take their relationship to the next level.

The new ambassador replaces former Chinese Ambassador to Dominica His Excellency Deng Boqing who left Dominica to take up an assignment in Nigeria in August 2010.
