Dominic Raab: The man deputizing for UK PM Boris Johnson

Dominic Raab, a 46-year-old former lawyer, was elected to Parliament in 2010, and spent his entire political career on the same wing of the party that secretly yearned for Johnson to have a serious go at taking the reins.
Like Johnson, Raab is a longstanding advocate of Brexit who was willing to be a thorn in his own party's side when it had more pro-European leadership.
Despite his euroskeptic leanings, his qualities were noticed by that pro-European leadership, and when then-Prime Minister David Cameron won reelection in 2015, Raab was offered a job in government. At the time, Raab was seen as a rising star within the party, and his promotion was seen as a way for Cameron to bolster his own euroskeptic credentials.
Raab previously served in Theresa May's cabinet as the Brexit secretary, only to resign in protest at the deal she eventually struck with the EU. And despite running against Johnson in last summer's Conservative leadership contest, he has been extraordinarily loyal to the Prime Minister ever since.

  1. Nobody should wish harm on another human being. As much as I oppose Prime Minister Boris Johnson politically, I’m extremely saddened to hear that he has now been moved to the ICU. Some things go beyond politics. I wish Johnson pulls through this and recovers from the coronavirus.

    1. Am I the only one here thinking that BoJo’s illness has something to do with EU? EU has the most incentive to make UK beg for returning to EU. Harming the top leaders who advocate for Brexit is clearly one of the ways.

    1. @Jennafir Joelli with respect, when you have to borrow terms from two archaic languages to make some kind of point, you are probably reaching.

    1. @Trump Tweets I’m just hoping the Deep State doesn’t assassinate him while he’s in ICU? They’ll probably get certain doctor’s or nurse’s to poison him and claim it was Covid-19? Remember Trump, Boris and Le Penn threw a Monkey Wrench in The New World Order’s plan of world domination.

    2. @Dave Nolan Don’t be so incredible silly! He shook hands with Covid-19 patients and bragged about it. Nobody has to assassinate Covidiots. He basically invited Corona by shaking hands with it. It was arrogance and stupidity who brought him into ICU Sorry Boris, but that’s true. Get better soon.

    1. Hello sir. people like you should be in the prison showers taking a pácḳ of wild̾ ñiǵǵệŕs up the tai| pipe without |ube. You would grab your ankles and yell “HARDER AND DEEPER” while those savages fill you up. you will enjoy this

  2. How do you not have a succession plan for Parliamentary leadership after 1.000+ years of succession peculiarity in the monarchy?

    1. Brazilian Abroad Maga Rodrigues you obviously have no idea what you are talking about… he was voted in by the largest majority in about 40 years. Trump and Boris are very different politically and he’s nothing like Bolosonaro at all so lumping them together just shows your views are based on your own bias and lazy assumptions rather than facts. Brexit is actually complex issue and i doubt you know very much about that either.

    2. Dominic Raab is the only member of the UK Government who I’ve personally met in person and who I’ve spoken to and I can honestly say that he is a pure gentleman who is articulate and intelligent and very personable. I wish him every success as he assumes the position that he now finds himself in.

    3. @Eddie L ABSOLUTELY Spot On…. isn’t it amazing that people have their own personal agendas without understanding or wanting to understand the facts!

    4. Because are prime ministers don’t get assassinated much. Ha ha. Spenser Percival is the only one.

    5. ethan burnside we have a system of succession, due to cabinet being a collective of equals not a presidential system. What you mean to say is we don’t have a formal legal codified succession order. That is fine, we have first Secretary of State (Dom raab) and then rishi sunak afterwards. I suspect after that it is Michael gove or Matt hancock. That is 4 succession stages.

    1. @Daniel Sennett U.S. civilians alone account for 393 million (about 46 percent) of the worldwide total of civilian held firearms. It’s our second amendment in our constitution for a reason. We need better background checks stricter gun mandates and pass mental health standards to own a gun. People who purpose the US bans firearms outright are idiots.

    2. @Daniel Sennett Your post above mine mentions that you need a good reason to get a license from the police.
For some reason I got the impression that you were against the _good reason_ clause.
But looking again at your posts, I may be mistaken.
      Stay safe, Daniel.👍

    1. @Tom Towers im talking about BORIS JOHNSON, you know, the father and husband who according to you got what he deserved because he “is supposedly the British version of Trump”.

    2. @jan doedel Yeah because he just like trump dismissed it and did a disservice to the people and now look at him. But also if he’s similar to trump that means he’s racist and or corrupt. And so yeah he gets what he deserves.

    1. yeah and trump thinks he’s Morpheus “take the malaria pill, remain in blissful ignorance with me”.

  3. This dude looks new world order creepy Boris looks even creepier.meanwhile I have a human cheeto for a president
