The patient’s body has two main ways to fight the virus. Antibodies and cytokines. Antibodies are preferable/ my body fought with cytokines, a bad 9 days followed by Guillain – Barre’ and now with decreased exercise tolerance at 5 weeks. Not quite. The immune system has two components, cellular and humoral immunity. Humoral immunity is B cell production of antibodies, after being presented with the antigen by a T helper cell. Cellular immunity consists of macrophages, granulocytes, eosinophils, blast cells and T killer cells. They communicate with each other with cytokines. Many of the people who recovered with no symptoms have no antibody production, but their T killer cells are shown, in vitro, to destroy the virus. While most of the people who developed a lot of antibodies suffered terrible symptoms. I’ll take a proper cellular response any day, over humoral response.

@Michael Mann As much as I agree, the oxygen levels can get dangerously lows for the ones with alivoli infections or scarring. It also get quite hot. However excluding the medically intolerant of masks, should definitely weak a non medical mask.
@Slate Yes, someone whose lungs are compromised are most likely going to have some difficulties wearing a mask. But the alternative is far worse, so people need to choose their poison. Frankly, were I in that position, I simply would not be going out much at all. Then I wouldn’t need to wear a mask most of the time, and I would limit my exposure to other people. But here’s the things…these aren’t even the people we see in these videos. Someone with compromised lungs isn’t going to be arguing with people in a store for 10-15 minutes. The people who are complaining are people who are simply acting like fools to see how much trouble they can cause and what they can get away with. And yes, wearing a mask can be uncomfortably hot. But healthcare workers often have to wear them all day long. If they can do it having to TREAT people who catch the virus, the VERY LEAST the rest of us can do is wear a mask to try to ease the burden on them by limiting the spread.
