Dem Party Chair Changes 2020 Rules ‘Midstream’ After Saying ‘We Can’t Change The Rules Midstream’

This year’s candidate debates could shape who Democrats pick as a nominee to run against Donald Trump, and now the party is changing some of the rules for who can be in the debates in the middle of the process, drawing criticism from candidates including Sen. Bernie Sanders and Tom Steyer. In this Special Report, MSNBC’s Ari Melber charts the role of debates, the controversial new DNC rule change, the impact on candidates including Mike Bloomberg, and how the DNC’s shift conflicts with statements the party chair Tom Perez made as recently as January, when he said, “we made the rules, they were very transparent, they're very inclusive, and we can't change the rules midstream.” (This interview is from MSNBC’s “The Beat with Ari Melber, a news show covering politics, law and culture airing nightly at 6pm ET on MSNBC. ). 1. @Nataona Tynes if you want a republican why don’t you just vote for Trump. their policys are the same. they are alike in so many ways. even down to being against minorities. he will say what you want to hear til elected and then never carry through on anything

    2. Bloomberg is a great candidate, he doesn’t beg poor people for money, why should he meet a donations threshold if he does not bother to collect donations which he doesn’t really need, unlike Bernie “give me your money” Sanders

  1. The DNC changed the rules to let Bloomberg in.
Tom here is lying thief and needs to resign!
He was involved in the App in Iowa and is actively trying to stop Bernie.

  2. For once I’d like to see just one process that isn’t convoluted and one political system that isn’t corrupted.

    1. Sorry, you’ll NEVER see that. Nor will there be World Peace or any other “Perfect World” situation.
Play the game how it is, NOT how you want it to be.

    1. The Drama Zone the angle is they will get more viewers if they actually report the news and stop shilling for the wealthy 😂

    1. And bloomberg bribed the d.n.c to throw the caucases and election. Think on this what other caucus have they flipped coins to be elected?

    1. And if they don’t cheat Bernie, many of his supporters will still insist they did.
I was for Bernie in 2016 and felt there was shady crap then. But Russia also put fuel on the fire, so I’m aware that we all have to be more skeptical about inflammatory information we hear. Bernie himself at the debate said all the candidates are United in supporting whomever gets the nomination. We must all commit to that too.

    2. @Julie Nance I can not commit to that nor can many others. I must commit to ending dems and all fed law who have committed crimes high treasons and want communist globalism in america. Ss. I can never commit to socalism communism or globalism all three will make you a no rights slave with no constitution and no safety.

  3. If someone says “new rules” in the middle of a game, the only sane response is to collect your ball and find better friends to play with.

    1. You can form a 3rd party, except it will only screw one of the 2 Main Parties out of a win. Ross Perot cost Bush his 1992 election. Green party cost Al Gore the 2000 Election.

    1. That’s why he’s a Demonrat who wants to grow government which empowers the rich & politically-connected. How do you think politicians like Joe & Bernie become filthy rich while in public service?

  4. Bloomberg is trying to buy the nomination. The people in control of the party seem to be okay with this. I really hope the voters aren’t.
