What nobody is talking about is, “The leads.” When a search warrant is presented to a judge, the affiant explains exactly what they’re looking for and where to find it. The person or persons (or tipster/s) on this sealed affidavit has intimate knowledge of what could be found, taken and where it could be located in that super-secure, gigantic complex of mar-a-lago. Was it a close personal lawyer? Ivanka or Jared? Melania? Wesselberg? Eric? Don Jr? Or Donald himself as part of a pending plea deal…Somebody was pressed out big time to give away the information used in the statement of probable cause. And I wonder what charges are pending for those people as well.
@MarkTubeG spot on!…..MM would be my bet hands down.
@JM my number 1 choice is MM who has very quietly been behind the scenes working out a deal to avoid being charged!
@Lorene H. Since you don’t know, I will inform you.
It was *not* warrantless, they had a signed warrant by a judge (appointed by Trump) who saw enough evidence of probably cause to a crime.
He was not there as he is in NYC on other charges. He was duly informed as the law defines.
The warrant included his personal safe in particular, for which again there had to be sufficient evidence to show that it would be relevant.
He is in possession of documents that he could, if he wanted to, present to the public which outline what specific items were in question.
If the warrant was uncalled for and the entire thing was a “witch hunt,” he could very easily prove that by releasing that information.
Why hasn’t he done so?
@Anth C Definitely !!
I read an article this am. The headline…”Trump’s allies think there is a traitor in Mar=a=lago.” They should’ve read the news…Trump wasn’t in Mar=a=lago…he was in NY
@Kipp Wieland Has calling people names ever gotten u ahead in life?
@Armastat Ask Donnie the Skid Mark that question.
@Armastat Trump is very gifted – a savant you could say, in the realm of LOSING.
@Armastat Headline:
“TRUMP PLEADS THE 5TH–ADMITS TO BEING MOB BOSS!”
Lede:
“You see the mob takes the Fifth.” — Donald J. Trump, April 2018.
So I’ve been reading republican feedback that it is totally fine for trump to take government docs as long as they don’t contain sensitive info, or that it’s fine for trump to keep docs because they’re safe at mar a lago with all the security he enjoys…?? That sounds so off. Right??
Definitely off. Late 70s post-Watergate law makes it illegal to take *any* documents. Unofficial reporting is that the room was *not* secured w/in the compound & the addition of a pad lock on the door was requested.
“Classified documents whose classification is classified” 😂
They were the SIOPS probably, ESI.
At a campaign stop in Iowa in 2016, Trump said, “If you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?”
@Wolfgang Karp only LMFAO!!!!!
@MORAL FORTITUDE… It seems a bit comical, in a hypocritical sense, that one would unabashedly exercise their 1st amendment right at the same time they are openly (and uneducatedly) criticizing the 5th amendment. That flies directly into the face of your screen name 😳
Because he knows what’s really happening and there is no time for these foolish games. Cash Patel said they were all declassified. Today on a real news channel.
@Just me
What “real news channel” was that – Alex Jones? AJ would be a perfectly good news commentator if he would only stop pulling his “facts” out of his own “butthole.”
Why does no one ask WHY he took them, why it’s taken so long to get it back, and can the people who helped take the documents be held accountable too?
@Jim McLoughlin No worries here, mate! Fortunately for me, I control who or what affects my sensitivities, not Ta’om
@Vicki Modica well maybe We the People can send you and your “agreeable parties” the “invoice” for this nonsense and ALL of the other nonsense BOTH parties conjure. Some of We the People are tired of having taxes forced upon us that fund these criminals, and their questionable ideologies.
Are you ok with privately finding this FBI mission????
@Alannah , s 🫤 So you’re saying that the search was “warranted” because he hasn’t released the warrant, nor the list of seized documents/items/things/etc.?????
I can’t say I’m ok with that
I’m glad people with knowledge about and involved in Watergate are still alive and can provide context and insight
Maybe Trump can take some notes 😀
I was 7 yrs old when Nixon resigned. I used to watch my dad’s 📺. We only had 3 vhf channels and two uhf channels that we could receive with a tin foil antenna. But! I remember watching the WATERGATE hearings. The hearings were way over my head obviously. Although, I was very young, I remember Nixon saying: I will resign tomorrow, in this office, at this time. For the ‘good’ of the country
Words that have stuck with me my entire life.
Nixon had the wherewithal and the dignified awareness to understand the ‘AMERICA’ was bigger than he was.
Nixon had a 72% approval rating in his first term. It is still is among the highest ratings, to this day. BTW, He created the EPA!
I was young, but very aware of Watergate. Nixon was a good president, by any standard…..and this, from a DEMOCRAT!
@Creek Walker somebody like Nixon would now be laughed outta the fascist GOP in this day and age!
Sadly , most Trump followers think watergate hotel has to do with a trump purchase 🥹
“You see the mob takes the Fifth,” -Trump
“If you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?” -Trump
“Fifth Amendment. Fifth Amendment. Horrible.” -Trump
@Freddy Hinojosa There are several provisions of federal criminal law imposing liability on officials who violate the PRA and the FRA. 18 U.S.C. § 641 makes it a felony to, among other things, dispose of any record that belongs to the United States. 18 U.S.C. § 1361 makes it a felony to injure property of the United States.
More specific to records, 18 U.S.C. § 2071 makes it a felony to willfully and unlawfully remove, mutilate or destroy—or to attempt to remove, mutilate or destroy—any record deposited in any public office or with any public officer of the United States. That same provision also makes it a felony for anyone having custody of such records to remove, mutilate or destroy those records and imposes severe consequences: a violation requires the individual to “forfeit his office and be disqualified from holding any office under the United States.” Have a good night Sir.

At least Mixon did the right thing and resigned. Go back and view his final statement to the people of the USA. words that he said will NEVER come out of Trump’s mouth. Shows who is the real man and who is the baby.
They gave the secret service an hour heads up? Would this be the same secret service that deleted texts?
Aiyoh it is going to be Russia Russia Russia again, the whole world is laughing at America again!
My first thought as well — or, did the FBI just give the head of the SS in DC notice so he’d be able to confirm the validity of the FBI IDs?
Trump said 2016 “Only the guilty take the 5th Amendment.”
Well, who are we to argue?
@Robert Johnson yeah you’re right
“If you are innocent why are you taking the 5th amendment “
~ Trump-
@Dan Domski excuses
@Lumpyjohn1 truth
@Big Chungus Dude he can give excuses until the cows come home. but we all know the real reason why any person pleads the fifth just go talk to any criminal.
Better yet, why not make public the warrant materials he has been given? Why not let everyone know exactly what the list includes?
There are registers to keep track of all classified documents, there is a custodian who can show who has documents, someone signs a receipt for docs as they are not passed around like greeting cards. Someone in the WH signed for those docs and they knew where they were, they knew how many boxes there were as well. Alex K, comment below, he has no clue!
I love the right’s idea that somehow he could blanket make everything unclassified.. each document individually would need to apply each piece of paper and be cleared by several levels to be unclassified.
PLUS making it unclassified doesn’t mean you get to keep it !
PLUS if all these documents are unclassified.. let’s see them !! The 1/6 committee should have full access to these now unclassified documents too. The news should apply to see them now that they are unclassified.
We don’t even know really what they took, could be like tax information or something for all we know.
they can’t have it both ways right? Or is there a two tiered system of “justice” around here?
Why don’t you all ask the EX-president why he took the 5th when he went to New York’s deposition?
Because he can
Media has been focused on the FBI search and not about the classified documents Trump had in his home,why he took them,why he didnt give them back when asked and what he could possibly do with that information. Glad to see this has been the focus here.
My speculation (fwiw): TFG possessed top secret docs that he took with him after being finally kicked out of the WH and that he was ready to threaten to give to US enemies if/when legal cases against him got too intense.
A person(s) who has long known about this finally flipped (finally saw the writing on the wall & choose to help him/herself) and told the FBI/DOJ what they were and where they were located.
At that point, knowing that TFG would not give up these docs if merely demanded to do so (or perhaps they had even done this many times), the Feds finally knew they had no choice but to take these sensitive docs by force for matters of national security, even knowing this would embolden/rile up TFG’s fascist minions and the danger that poses.
For True
“Same as Watergate” Not hardly, I was a teenager when it happened, and I seem to know more than Trump knows about it.
Dann Marcham– So was I, about 13 or 14 yrs old during Watergate !! That was nothing compared to 45’s crimes and cover -ups !!
I personally can’t imagine anyone less responsible or trustworthy to hold classified documents than Trump. A pathological liar, a malignant narcissist, a glorifier of dictators and autocrats is hardly someone in whom one would place the safety of a nation with.

The concern is that he had them for about 20 months, and during that time there is no telling who could have had access to their contents.
He owes Russia over 400 mil that he can’t pay back. What better way to have Putin forgive this debt than to gain access to highly classified material!
