Wonder if Trudeau thinks it’s time for the emergency measures act? Bring in the trampling horses and tear gas?
They can’t impose the emergency act. The strike is legal, mandated and backed by Canadian law.
@Zam1Fear like the one in Ottawa was.
@Zam1Fear protests are legal as well but when trudeau and his gang dont like the message they do what they want to disperse them😉
Freeze the union’s bank accounts
funny how it took weeks for cops to arrest anyone during that movement. wonder why that is! almost like a privilege…
The amount of gov workers I know who tell me they do nothing all day is disturbing…
Same goes for longshoremen and countless other industries. The issue is the 8+ hour work day — not the honest demand for a living wage.
@James Bond When public servants strike, they strike for our military personnel as well. It’s not just the typical public workers you’re thinking og
@Ari Pac And they will be missed?
So true. I know from personal experience that most spend half the day complaining about their job and the GoVeRnMeNt. Total waste of money.
@StonedViper Agree. My family has been here for some 150yrs; I dont fit the right profile.
I’m just here for Eden
Me too, she’s gorgeous
Literally
Angelic.
Give them the $234.00 dollars some lucky seniors got for inflation for this year and send them on their merry way.
thats not even enough to cover the increase to food costs alone xD. though i agree.. no need to strike when you already make more than the national average.
Everyone is feeling the sting of inflation. But these workers need to be realistic in their wage demands. Our governments are broke. The Union of Taxation Employees for instance is asking for 4.5% for 2021, and 8% per year for 2022 and 2023. That’s 20.5% plus interest on retroactive amounts. Taxpayers can’t foot that kind of bill. I work in a small private company. We were impacted tremendously by covid. We still haven’t fully recovered revenues. But we didn’t have to lay off anyone. And our workers wages have been frozen (for the most part) since 2019. These workers and their representatives need a reality check.
Our government isn’t broke, our government is broken!
@James Bond You’re preaching to the choir I’m a CPA.
So you slave away at a small company and feel others should as well? Your employer should close their doors if they cant give a fair wage to their workers.
@Egoticly We pay fair wages you don’t know what you’re talking about. Its small companies like ours that are innovative, resilient and build wealth.
I remember at times when I had to call any government agency, I was put on hold for very long durations of time, and occasionally got hung up on by accident, or I was given the wrong information.
Or standing in a long line waiting to access any government agency service.
That part of government I have no problems seeing it transition to automated A.I services.
Zero human errors with A.I.
@Scared Donut Would you like an AI issuing passport too? Or deciding on Veterans affairs issues?
@NimzoNah. He’s right on this one.
😂😂😂😂😂😂 AI sucks
@Agni Das Pfft. Do you mean AL from H&R?
@Vikfee You mean these guys should take a pay cut, so they are down to regular Canadians’ pay levels?
If taxpayers aren’t getting raises to help combat inflation then why should government employees get raises? Who’s going to fill the gap?
Their incomes are negligible in comparison to the government overspending. Consulting fees anyone?
Your logic is so broken, its sad. I’m not getting in so no one should!!! ???
How about you get a job with an union who supports and fight for you?
@Galvin L. nepitism?
@Dee Dee yea but they only makeup 0.8% of the working population in Canada
No hurry. Let this strike age a few months like a cheap wine.
If all 155K employees stepped down today, there would be twice that many applying for their job and the government’s 9% salary increase offer.
Yes, then you would be here to complain about how stupid the public services were and how they screwed up your life.
What a shame that Canada can’t pay their own employees fairly
the whole canadian pie is shrinking. the gov has no choice. they are already privileged.
Fairly? $60,000 base for 40 hours working from home with most having no college degree isn’t fair?
@KC B can they do math like fractions?
Workers are paid to strike! They have to walk around until their legs getting tired!
Cool. Easier to get the maximum bang for the buck when you deploy the fire hoses. Are we going to be deploying mounted “police” to trample them, like in Ottawa?
What if there was a strike and no one noticed.
Kind of like what’s happening now? Lol
There’s a strike?
Pay increase is absolutely required with thanks to clowns in Gov. But the percentage is insane. Being in private sector and remaining profitable throughout pandemic by 100s of millions of dollars we only got a max of 3% raise last year and nothing so far this year. And also if i tell me boss i am not working at 4:01 until i get paid extra, i’ll be shown the door. Everyone works hard in private sector right from your server at the restaurant to the CEO of the company. Are the gov. Employees willing to work that hard?
My wife got 8% last year alone at her private sector job. That’s because the company is small and fair. The problem is that the government has waited too long to negotiate previous year wages. So the public service knows exactly what to ask for because they know what inflation actually was.
How about battling inflation, lower gas, lower house prices to a cap..
Beautiful. Stay on strike for a year!
Fire them all.
Is this a ChatGPT 5 vs 150,000
End of Line
Time to declare martial law and seize their bank accounts!
PSAC, Canadians support the government before they support you and that’s saying a lot. Never thought I’d support the Trudeau gov’t but I really hope they stick to their guns and so does the rest of Canada.
