Cunningham After Chauvin Guilty Verdict: ‘This Entire System Is What Needs To Be Put On Trial’

While many are celebrating the guilty verdict in ex-police officer Derek Chauvin's murder trial, calls for broader police reform continue. NBC's Shaquille Brewster, Civil Rights Attorney Charles Coleman, and former member of President Obama’s 21st Century Policing Task Force Brittany Packnett Cunningham join Stephanie Ruhle with the latest reporting and analysis. "The institution of policing is precisely the problem here," Cunningham says. Aired on 04/21/2021.

    1. @sapphirecatherine cherrypop So, you don’t know who did the first autopsy? I guess you really are pulling your information straight out of your a$$, otherwise you’d be able to give me a name.

    2. @Noreb well yes it is relevant to the discussion I’ve been having to you, including to your last post. That may not pertain to the rest of the discussion on this thread but whether it does or not is completely irrelevant.

    3. @Noreb yes I can quite imagine it has been a rather unpleasant experience for you. Smart Alecs can never cope when their efforts backfire.

  1. America is at a crossroads ” we are in between those who want to pull together and those who want to pull us apart . Racial propaganda has spread and found new recruits and our climate today is one of violence . My concern is for those people who are not involved who simply go about their life oblivious to the intentions of others who want to harm them for any reason ….

  2. The saying used to be “if you don’t know your rights, you have no rights”. It is so true. Those with authority won’t inform you of you rights, they will just violate them

  3. It is incumbent on us to remember, while politicians are counting on us to forget. Don’t let them drag out police reform as they have done with gun control.

    1. Gun Control is ever so needed..police reform..never going to happen until those in charge of these police departments across the nation admit that there is a code of silence and the unwillingness to be proactive and weed out these racist bigoted officers and get rid of them..nothing wiil change

  4. Once Again.. I appreciate MSNBC’s diverse set of guests.. It’s important with all issues, that all backgrounds are equally represented.. Because, even though we live in the same country, we don’t have the same experiences…

  5. That part in the past month I know of five incidents where fellow officers lied on reports that were headlined on the news they lied on them are they going to be prosecuted and brought to answer for their fictitious reports we would go to jail for falsifying information how come they’re not being charged with that among so many other things!

  6. The video shows Derek Chauvin murdering George Floyd in real time and people on YouTube are still saying drugs killed him.

    1. Racism blind people. This is why Toni Morrison said it is some sort of profound neurosis. This is why Albert Einstein said racism is a disease of white people. And sorry to say that the vast majority of white people are infected and they don’t even know it.

    2. @Tommy Smith don’t get me wrong, I amuse myself by engaging with them. One thing that helps me stay emotionally regulated and neutral is responding to their bad faith comments as if they’re being genuine. My focus is trying to understand where the person is coming from. I don’t need to prove I’m right because what difference does it make? They either already know the truth, don’t care, or disagree and that’s okay. Plus, don’t tell anyone, but I’m not always right.

    3. @Alexis Mitchell I totally understand. I think you would get bored easily if they tried to keep up with you. So, you have to make it interesting somehow. It helps when you reach some kind of common ground even if you disagree. That’s not always possible, but; it doesn’t matter if you’re always right, lol. Seriously, you probably are right most of the time. You seem to be very intelligent. Do you like the game show, Jeopardy!?

    4. @Tommy Smith Jeopardy has been a favorite of mine (along with Wheel of Fortune) from since first grade until now. I actually had the game for my NES classic as a kid. I find people and their motivations interesting. Most people tend to stop trolling when they realize someone’s taking them seriously, asking questions, and essentially forcing them to explain their positions. Above all else I try to be respectful. I don’t write anything I wouldn’t say in person or I’d be ashamed for my children to read.

  7. Awww man I swear to God Learning what the report would have been the report would have without the cameras has me shaking I wish I could have 5 minutes alone with that pos

  8. It will put the fear of God in every police officer if they made an example out of Derek and give him a 30-year sentence he fits the qualification for it

  9. I agree 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽. The entire system is what needs to be on trial 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

  10. Chauvin’s police cruiser did not have the words “To Serve and Protect” His car said “I am the Judge, Jury, and Executioner”
