@Tomek Holland Australia? I just searched up their tax brackets, and if you’re paying 18% tax, that means you’re making 18k-37k per year… so you’re broke. The next tax bracket is 32.5% :)… compare this to the US tax bracket.
Believe it or not, most able people in the US pay very little for healthcare (insurance is mandated).
If we’re talking about the quality of healthcare, we should be talking about your chances of survival for Covid-19 (that is, if you get the virus, what are your chances of survival). Unfortunately, there’s not enough information to determine death rate (the number of cases in the US is expected to be MUCH larger than the # of reported cases)

Living in close quarters is doable. The challenge is the American culture implementing it, which NYC has always been chaotic, is messy. Look at Tokyo. In Japan, they’re taught to respect each other, their space, and the environment, and relatively low crime. Here, Americans don’t respect tish. Our culture is kcuf you pay me. I’ve travelled all my life, and know especially the New England area is not clear cut, and will never be.

This is when the affordable care act that was originally drawn up by President elect Obama should have been passed immediately by the Senate. Unfortunately the Senate did not want Americans To have the same healthcare as they do. President Obama said we don’t have to look into a healthcare, we will just use what the government has. When Joe, Mika and this lady get their healthcare from a clinic at one of these poor hospitals, then they can report accurately why the “rich” should lose their healthcare.
What’s the point of working hard, making good choices and achieving success if you’re just going to be equalized, might as well do the bare minimum to get by.

@stryfetc1 Yes, it is okay for it to still be this way. You cannot change human behavior. There will always be those that win and those that lose. It is impossible to equalize all situations. That would mean taking money from those who have earned it and deserve it and giving it to those who have not earned it and do not deserve it. One more point, taxing the wealthy to attempt this would not work as there are not enough of them.. We would need to take money from the middle class and give it to those who absolutely do not deserve it. There is no magical “fix” for this problem as it is mostly dependent on human beings choosing to behave in the right manner and making good choices. AND…that is never going to happen with many of them!
I was just watching docs about the 1918 flu and polio and the exact same things happened then (shutting down businesses, staying indoors, overloaded hospitals, no morgue space, even gargling with disinfectants! Lol) and the rich were trying to pay off nurses for first available beds for their sick loved ones. It’s so gross.

We never accepted welfare; my mother didn’t believe in it.
That was over fifty years ago.
I didn’t stay there.
Today, I am happily married, live in a nice home with plenty of property, and we take the Rolls Royce out on weekends to the local park.
Get this clearly imbedded now.
You are nothing more than what you aspire to be, and nothing less. You become what you choose to become in life … not what your parents, your neighbors, or your politicians choose for you.
No one is responsible for inequality, but those individuals on BOTH sides of that division, who chose their place in life.
Stop trying to do for others, what they choose not to do for themselves. It is a road that leads to exhaustion and despair.

Hello again.
I am sorry to hear that you are struggling with lack of work, due to the virus issue.
It is at times like these, that we learn the importance of having an Emergency Fund, to carry us through periods of lack.
I hope that I am not offending you by saying this. But, an Emergency Fund is a lot like windshield wipers on your car. You know that you need new wipers, but you just never seem to think about them when the weather is nice. Invariably, we wind up getting wet; trying to replace bad wipers in the rain storm.
The trick is to think smarter, and prepare.
It is not necessary to come up with a new plan, even.
Thousands of people have already done what you wish to do also. Just pick an example of someone that has succeeded in the area that concerns you, and learn from their successes and failures.
This saves you from having to start at “square one” of the learning curve.
It is called: “Standing on the shoulders of giants.”
Maybe someone is only 5 feet tall.
But, perched on the shoulders of a giant, such as Dale Carnegie, John D. Rockefeller, or Bill Gates …
they can be a hundred feet tall.
You don’t have to like the giant, either.
You are simply gaining a view from a higher perspective.
And, they don’t even need to be alive.
You can stand on the books they’ve written, courses they’ve offered, and videos they’ve recorded.
Ultimately, it is about the information shared, and your ability to put it to good use in your own life.

The best place to start, is always at improving yourself. There is no “better bang for your buck”.
I’ll tell you one of the most powerful realizations I have come across in my lifetime.
At the core of every person’s “problem” is a simple lack of self-control. Most people know what their inheirent weaknesses are, but it does them little good, as they cannot muster the will to address those known weaknesses.
Thus, they postpone self-improvement for “someday”, and proceed as usual today. These days become weeks, and years.
Rarely, does one lay on their deathbed, with a sense of complete peace. Rather, they are filled with regrets, for things they knew they should have done, but now they have run out of “tomorrows”.
Learn to love improving yourself, beginning with self-control. Search Youtube for free videos on the topic, especially audio book videos that you can listen to while you do other activities, like driving or walking, ecetera. Inundate your self with this information until you gain the control that you need. Simply start with the first step: Tell yourself: “I will.” and then do it. There is nothing that I can possibly say to you, that is more valuable to you personally, than this.

@Bernard Powell It is an answer – you simply choose to believe what you believe. You lefties are like religious fanatics – belief is everything. Or are you arguing that there is no such thing as value or that there will ever be a time when people will not barter things of value for other things of value (you can modify it to cows or sheep instead of money if it makes you feel better, but ancient people figured out what you clearly miss in that money is a shorthand representation of value.)
So, be precise, exactly how do you plan on removing money from politics? And, even better, since the politicians write the laws and will write them in such a way as to benefit themselves, exactly how do you plan on forcing them to remove what’s good for them? Note – if you replace them (peacefully or violently) you’ll simply end up with a different set of politicians who will do what’s best for themselves. Even a person like Bernie is a millionaire with multiple houses. Or, of course, we’re back to authoritarianism wherein everyone is forced to the same things with the same outcomes at gunpoint. Because, of course, THAT type of governance has never been abused throughout history /eyeroll.
@Starforge1 I think everyone should pay their fair share of taxes and if you decide to be in a health career that means you need to help everyone as best as you can. I still don’t understand why you think that healthcare should only be given if the patient has enough money to pay for it. Healthcare should be a universal right.
@Chaos Blade So if someone chooses a health career then they should assume that they can be forced to work for as little as the government wants to pay for as long as they have that career OR they can extort as much as they want from the government because the government can guarantee that everyone has to be covered? You don’t see the inherent problem with that?
AND once again from the cheap seats – you DO NOT get to decide for everyone else what a ‘right’ is. Our rights (as Americans if you are one) were put into law by the constitution. If you want to add more ‘rights’ then there is a process – and a difficult one – that ensures that the actual citizens of the country (you know, the plebs who determine what laws they want to live under) get a say in.
You fools won’t even put it up to a vote in places (states like California) where you simply need a majority but think you have the authority to tell everyone that your wishes should preclude theirs and they don’t get a say in it. Why you and not the Baptist next door who thinks nobody should drink alcohol? Drinking causes a ton of preventable deaths every year from drunk driving to health problems later in age. Why should you even be allowed to do it?
One thing I will agree with you on – everyone SHOULD pay their fair share in taxes. Solution: Flat tax of say 20% for everyone no exceptions and no minimum and no deductions. Of course, you don’t really mean that do you? You just want all those doctors, engineers, scientists and everyone else in the top 5% (you know, those folks who actually studied and / or were smart enough to learn a decent trade in college) to pay a lot more for having done the right thing. Oh, wait, what you really mean is corporations (because you still think that corporations pay taxes and not the customers who buy their products.) Or maybe you only think the super rich – you know, the ones where if you collected EVERY penny they have it still wouldn’t come close to covering the national debt. ‘Fair share’ my hind parts.
You don’t want a ‘fair share’ you simply want to steal from others under the guise of government because you think you’re entitled to some of their money. That may be a ‘share’ but it’s hardly ‘fair.’ Blah, blah, insert ‘they stole it first’ or some other such justification. Be sure to tell your dentist or doctor that next time they are working on you or a loved one that they don’t deserve their salary and in fact should be working for free because it’s your right to their labor.
I take this as a positive. It’s good that the media is shining light on this issue. Maybe Jay z or other celebrities from New York will donate
